((Ep. 1))
{3rd Person}

"Wei Wuxian died!"
"It's so great!"

The sounds of swords clashing and cultivators yelling could be heard above Nightless City.

"It's good that he died. That's such good news!"
"Wei Wuxian, the Yiling Patriarch, couldn't have been killed on the spot if it weren't for the coalition of the Jiang Clan, Lan Clan, Jin Clan, and Nie Clan, for he was such a terrible man."

A lone man dressed in black stood at the cliff of the mountain which was where the battle took place. A flute was in his right hand while he started to slowly back himself towards the edge of the cliff.

"Yes. The Jiang Clan adopted him out of mercy, but he turned out to be a merciless devil."
"How ungrateful! He betrayed his clan and fought against all other clans. Because of this, the Jiang Clan was almost eradicated."
"If I were Jiang Cheng, I would've killed him from the start."

The expression on his pale face held deep pain, and his eyes began to water. He watched the Stygian Tiger Amulet float from one person's hand onto the next. For each person who got a hold of it was either killed or injured by another who wanted it.

Greed.

Greed was the best word that fit this situation. And this... 'greed'... hunger for power, was the reason why many innocent people lost their lives. A never-ending war.

Not being able to stand it much longer, the man finally started to cry. He watched the cultivators fall like petals after a flowers bloom. He couldn't help but feel like it was his fault for everything that's happened.

With one last breath, he let himself fall off the cliff. Hoping not to further everyone else's pain.

His fall was short-lived when a hand quickly wrapped itself around his arm. He looked up at the person who caught him and gave a sad smile.

"Lan Zhan. Let go of me." He quietly pleaded, when he noticed that his friend had caught him with his injured arm.

Another person arrived, but with different intentions. With a sword in hand, he shakily walked towards them, catching their attention.

"Jiang Cheng." He smiled again at his adoptive brother.

"Wei Wuxian!" Jiang Cheng yelled in fury as he brought up his sword.

Wei Wuxian closed his eyes in acceptance.

"Go to hell!" He struck his sword down towards Wei Wuxian.

With that being final, Wei Wuxian once again fell down towards his death.

"As for Wei Wuxian, sixteen years ago, he was a prestigious man who became famous when he was young. How glorious he was! But look at his ending. Falling off a cliff without a body to be found, without a chance of survival."

((Ep. 2))
16 Years Later
{?}

I walked around the woods, lost in thought as I debated on whether or not I should return back to the village I used to live in. It was nearby but I still get sick whenever I get too close to the place I once called home. Taking another step forward, I felt myself get encased and carried into the air. I let out a small yelp in surprise and saw that I was trapped in a net. I took out an arrow and tried to cut myself free but for some reason it wasn't able to cut through the rope. I sighed and let myself continue to think.

'Maybe this is a sign I shouldn't go.'

I looked around and saw that I was alone. Or at least that's what I thought until the sound of leaves being crushed were heard underneath.

"Apple! Come on! Stop complaining and follow me!" The shouting then stopped.

"Do you need some help up there?" I heard the same voice ask mischievously.

"Please..." I replied.

The net got cut, causing me to fall out of it. I braced myself for impact however it didn't come when I landed in someone's arms. Though the both of us ended up falling to the ground since I assumed the force was too much for him.

"I got you!" He smiled, then helped me up.

He seemed like an odd fellow, but somehow seemed familiar. He was wearing all black and wore a mask that covered his face. A donkey was munching on some grass nearby.

"T-thank you." I stuttered as I bowed down in thanks.

"What are you doing around this area?" He questioned.

I stayed quiet for a moment.

'Is it alright for me to trust him?'

I looked at him one more time.

'I don't think he's bad, just a bit weird but not bad. He did help me get out of the net just now.'

"Mmm... I was planning on visiting my hometown, but I'm still deciding on whether I could or not." I answered quietly.

"So, you're from here?" He questioned, tilting his head.

"Yes."

"That's strange." He trailed off while he crossed his arms.

"What is?" I asked, slightly curious about what he meant about that."

"It's nothing. I have to go since I have something important to do. I hope you find your answer soon." He smiled, then walked off with his donkey.

I stared at him as he walked away, then looked away.

'I think it's finally time I go and return back home.'

Pushing down the unsettling feeling I was getting, I let out a small smile and went in a similar direction the man just did.
