((Ep. 3))
{Lan Xiao}"It's been a long time since I've seen this place." Wen Mei breathed out as she seemed to take in the nostalgic scenery.
"If I remember, you were around eleven when you first arrived here." I thought out loud as the group of us entered Cloud Recesses.
"I remember being traumatized the day I first got here." She agreed.
"What do you mean? Weren't you always scared of everyone?" I asked, remembering the first time we met each other.
"That too. But when I first arrived with my siblings, one of the people at the entrance got burned alive because they didn't want us to enter. It was my first time seeing something like that happen." She shivered at the memory.
"Hm, is that the reason why you begged Lan Zhan not to punish you?"
She nodded, confirming my question.
Along the way, the young group of disciples parted ways. Now it was just the 4 of us.
"The only person I could assume who that person is. Is Wei Wuxian." Wen Mei stated.
"I agree. He's the only one who knew the song Lan Zhan and he would play. It's just odd that he's in Mo Xuanyu's body now." I also added.
"Does that mean... Mo Xuanyu sacrificed himself to summon Wei Wuxian?" She asked.
"Yes. I think his life wasn't treating him fair. So he wanted to take revenge on those that didn't treat him good." I guessed.
We reached the Silent room and Lan Zhan placed Wei Wuxian on the bed.
"Lan Zhan, could you remove his top and turn him around? I want to put some ointment on his injury. Also, Lan Xiao, could you get me a rag and a small bowl of water?" Wen Mei asked us.
"Okay." I went to go get the items and returned to the room.
"Thanks." She gave a small smile as I put the items next to her.
She dunk the rag into the water, then wrung it out so it wasn't leaking. She softly dabbed the rag over the cut on his arm and back. After she was finished with that, she grabbed a small container and opened it then carefully applied the ointment to his cuts. Once Mei was finished she wrapped them up with a clean cloth from her bag.
"All done." She nodded in contentment.
My brother put Wei Wuxians top back on and I motioned to Wen Mei's arm.
"You should put some ointment on that too." I told her.
"Oh yeah. I forgot I had this." She laughed and applied some to her wound.
I noticed her yawn and realized that she hadn't properly rested last night since she seemed busy doing things.
"Come with me, I'll go take you to your room." I told her.
She got up and looked at me and my brother.
"I want to thank both of you for letting me stay. Seeing how there's still tension with my clan name, I wouldn't be surprised if they told you all something in the future." She said and gave us a deep bow.
"You didn't do anything wrong to us. I believe we're doing the right thing letting you stay, so don't worry about what they say." Lan Zhan replied. I felt my jaw drop.
'He said all of that... I was going to say all of that.'
"The same goes for me." I smiled.
"Come on." I grabbed her arm and pulled her forward to start following me.
We made it to her room and she placed her bag, bow, and quiver by the bed.
"You could go ahead and sleep already. I know you didn't sleep enough yesterday." I said and sat down on the floor.
She laid down on the bed, pulling the covers over herself as she closed her eyes.
'She must've been exhausted then.'
"Where were you for the past sixteen years." I quietly asked her, not expecting an answer.
"Running here and there. Some people took me in and accepted me like family." She replied. She opened her tired eyes and looked up at the ceiling.
"In my first year. I lived in the streets. Going from city to city. Then in my second year, I was taken in by some people and I lived with them for a couple of months before they realized who I was and kicked me out. I went back to the streets after that happened. I remember years later, I was passing by a house on the outskirts of the city, and the couple who lived there let me stay." She finished explaining and closed her eyes.
"Why didn't you tell us that you were alive? We could've helped you out." I replied, feeling guilty about everything she went through.
"Because if I did, you all would've had a hard time dealing with the other clans if they found out about it..." Her voice diminished at the end, meaning that she fell asleep already.
'Why would she care about that.'
