((Ep. 7))
{Lan Xiao}

The three of us made our way by the mountainside when we saw Wei Wuxian toppling over onto my brother. The both of them laid there for a bit when he caught Wen Qing and Jiang Cheng staring at them. They had a quick conversation and then left in the direction my uncle resided in.

I followed along while Wen Mei and Ning went to their sister.

I was about to walk into the room my uncle was in when the atmosphere felt tense. "Is everything alright?" I asked.

"You shouldn't be here. This matter is something that's really important and it's something you shouldn't hear." My eldest brother informed with a serious expression. An expression he hardly showed to me.

I scoffed as I rolled my eyes. I'm not that much younger than them.

"Okay. I'll be waiting outside then." I sarcastically replied while I shook my head in disbelief, then left the room making sure I closed the door behind me.

"How are they?" A familiar voice asked.

I noticed that it was just Mei and sighed.

"They seem to be just fine." I replied slightly annoyed at the situation.

"Okay well... how are you?" She seemed to get the hint.

"I'm, ugh. It's just that I was so worried for my brother. I was also worried for Wei Wuxian as well but I thought something bad had happened to them. And when I wanted to make sure that the both of them were fine they just tell me to leave while they talk about whatever happened." I explained in one breath.

"Oh... yeah, I guess they're okay then." She awkwardly replied not knowing what to say.

I laughed at her awkwardness and nudged her arm with my elbow.

"Let's go get something to eat. All this worrying made me hungry." I suggested, just wanting to find an excuse to leave.

"Okay." She smiled with a nod and walked next to me as we made our way to a small restaurant that was next to Cloud Recesses.

We finished up our food when I noticed Lan Zhan and Wei Wuxian approaching us. Lan Xiao quickly paid for the food, then walked past the both of them. Although Lan Zhan had a blank expression I could tell he was a bit confused.

"Little Wen. Do you know why she ignored us?" Wei Wuxian asked. I debated whether or not I should tell them but remembered that the only way they'll be able to know the whole situation is if I told them what happened.

"I don't think she's mad at you. I think she's just disappointed that her concerns and questions were put aside when she was told to stay outside while the both you talked with the Grand Master and Clan Leader. She was really worried something had happened after hearing that the two of you were missing." I explained as carefully as I could.

Without a word Lan Zhan left without us back to Cloud Recesses.

"Aha. So that's what happened." Wei Wuxian trailed off feeling a bit bad.

I nodded in response. "I didn't want to tell you all since it's something Lan Zhan should've grasped on his own. B-but I know that if I hadn't told him about it he'd still be here or be oblivious about his sister's emotions."

"It's good you told him. Sometimes Jiang Cheng and I have misunderstandings and we'd stay mad at each other for a while. Communication is all it takes for situations like this to settle down." He agreed.

We were almost at Cloud Recesses when he suddenly stopped.

"I have another question for you."

I stopped and turned to listen to his question.

"Why are the you and your siblings here?"

I looked around in thought.

"Hm... I don't know. My sister one time had a meeting with Wen Ruohan and when she returned home she told us to pack up. Whenever I asked my sister what's going on or what's the situation, she wouldn't tell me." I replied.

He seemed deep in thought then swiped the tip of his nose a couple times before giving me his signature smile.

"Okay. I believe you."

"Oh! Let's go. We don't want to be late for the release of the lanterns." He said as he rushed us towards the location.
