((Ep. 4))
{Wen Mei}

"Do we really have to go?" I groaned to my older sister in disagreement.

"S-start packing up. We should listen to her." My brother replied as he smiled at my sister.

"Okay..."

We packed our belongings and followed our sister. We made our way to a place called, "Cloud Recesses" along with some cultivators and Wen Chao. The leader of our group.

Just by observing him I really didn't like the way he treated others. He seemed to act ignorant to those around him and only did things that were going to benefit him. We were about to enter when we got stopped.

"Young Master, please present your invitation." One of the cultivators guarding the entrance politely asked.

"Invitation?" Wen Chao questioned.

"No invitation, no entry. No passing jade pendant, no entry. Coming late, no entry." They clarified, seeming to follow a set of rules.

Wen Chao attacked the man, setting him on fire. The other cultivator panicked and tried to set the fire out.

I gasped and took a hold of my sister's arm in fear. She looked down at me in hesitation.

"This is the invitation of the Wen Clan of Qishan."

"Please?" I begged.

She sighed and walked towards them, putting the fire out.

"His Excellency has ordered me to investigate secretly. It's not wise to get their attention. We better lay low." My sister reasoned.

"Wen Qing, Wen Qing. People from minor clans like you are always too cautious. I'm telling you, for the Wen Clan of Qishan, this is hardly a display." Wen Chao replied.

"Thank you." I told her once he walked away.

"Are you all coming?" I heard Wen Chao ask from the distance.

"I'll stay behind and help him. You both go ahead." I whispered to my siblings. They nodded and walked up the path into the mountain.

I made my way to the injured cultivator and took out a small pouch.

"I apologize for what had happened to you. This might sting a bit." I informed before gently spreading the cream across his face, chest, and hands.

"Here. Give me your hands." I told the other man.

He gave me his hands and I applied some cream to his hands as well. I took out another pouch and gave it to them.

"Apply this twice a day, your burns should go away within a couple of days of applying it."

"Thank you." They replied.

"No need. It's our fault you all are like this. I'll be going then." I softly smiled and walked in the same direction everyone else went.

There seemed to be a commotion once I neared a room. I heard a flute being played and once I entered the room, swords were being lifted in the air.

"What happened?" I asked my brother when I noticed Wen Chao glare at me with a scoff.

"Where have you been?" He demanded in a threatening tone, causing everyone to await my response.

I flinched at his tone.

"I-I got lost. I was only able to find you all once I heard a flute being played." I quickly lied.

If I told him the truth he might hurt my siblings and the men at the entrance. He roughly grabbed my arm and burned it.

"Ah!" I winced as some of the cultivators watched in shock.

"Wen Mei!" Both my siblings exclaimed.

"If I hadn't known you all knew about medicine then I would've believed you. But you decided to lie to me and helped out the man at the entrance."

"That's enough." The man holding the flute said, making Wen Chao stop.

The man stepped down and walked towards us.

"Young Master Wen, today is Ceremony Day of Cloud Recesses. I hope you can restrain yourself." He continued.

Before Wen Chao was able to do anything else my sister walked in front of him, blocking his way, and bowed to the man and the cultivators around.

"I'm Wen Qing from the Wen Clan of Qishan. I'm under orders of his Excellency to attend the lecture. Me, my little brother, and little sister. Wen Ning and Wen Mei, are new in Cloud Recesses and are not familiar with the rules. We hope that Grand Master and Clan Leader Lan can forgive us." She informed, then apologized.

My brother passed the box to Wen Qing and she offered it to the Clan Leader.

"If that's so, I'll accept it." The Grand Master replied as he stood up. The Clan Leader took the gift and looked at Wen Chao.

"Young Master Wen, the Salute Ceremony is over. Please get some rest in our guest house. As for tomorrow's lecture, please come here on time." The Clan Leader warned.

Wen Chao rolled his eyes and made his way out. I held my arm closely in pain as I followed him out along with my siblings.

"Hey." A hushed voice came from beside me. I stopped walking and turned to the voice.

"Are you alright?" He asked with a worried expression.

I nodded, avoiding his gaze then quickly left the room.

"Did I say something wrong?" I heard him ask someone.

"No, I think she's just scared of you." They answered.

"What?! But I didn't do anything." I heard him pout.
