Chapter 13
The orphanage had many rooms for the children to sleep in. There were rooms on the first floor for the ones under ten, there were rooms on the second floor for the ones above ten and their were the room for Miss Marsh on the third floor. And if we looked carefully enough from the outside, we could see a fourth floor, hidden from the children. And that fourth floor was high enough for someone to break its neck if ever he fell. And that had been the reason why only five children knew of it.
Sasha, Rose, Quinn, Jane and Hayley.
But none of the orphans had yet fallen from that hidden floor. None had got the foulness to push a friend towards death itself. Because orphans were loyal to each other. They trusted and loved each other. That was why no one cared to check that floor anymore. Because there were no reasons for it to be a true danger for the children themselves.
And if ever a child wished to trick one of his peers with death, even by knowing the existence of that fourth floor, none would be able to know how to go there. Because it had been sealed a long time ago.

"Hey !" Cheered Sebastien, his eyes lifted up his small head as he ran towards the girl. Jumping into her arms, he giggled. "You are who ?" He asked in a bad English, grinning madly.
"I'm Quinn, hun." The girl respond with a soft smile. Even if the child was very different from her Aaron, she kept missing those blacks locks falling over his eyes as the ones of her blonde boy. And those eyes kept switching from blue to grey.
I miss him so much . . .
"I am Sebastien !"
"And how old are you, hun ?" Asked she, a soft smile on her lips. That Sebastien reminded her very much of her Aaron for his personality.
"I'm . . ." Taking away his arms from the neck and being held by the hands around his waist, the boy started counting on his chubby fingers, his tongue out. " I'm six years old !"
Quinn giggled at the head the boy was making. That Sebastien was truly looking like her Aaron.
"And what are you doing here ?" She asked, frowning as if pretending she was cross. "This is the second floor young boy !"
Sebastien looked impressed for a moment, a little scared even before he understood that she was joking. And he laughed and laughed even louder when he was on the ground and she tickling him. Quinn also laughed, not as loudly and as much, but she laughed. She laughed because she was happy to be a mother again. She laughed because she was relieved to have found her Aaron in another boy.
And when they stopped laughing, they laughed again but with less energy. They were laying on the floor of their orphanage with red cheeks.
"Mummy ?" He asked suddenly and they stopped laughing,
Both stood up, the boy on his feet and her on her knees. Aaron had said the same word, the day after his true mother died in a fire. Aaron was six when he was left alone.
"No hun. It's Quinn." She said with an impression of déjà-vu.
"Mummy . . ." Repeated the boy, now crying." Mummy !" He yelled and threw his arms again around the neck of the girl. "Why did you leave me mummy !?" He asked and asked, never stopping to cry, his tears falling down in big drops as Quinn tried to hushed him by making rounds on his back.
"Shh. Your mummy is there, hun." She said with her eyes closed. "Your mummy will always be there . . ."
The boy looked up, more silent tears rolling down his reddened cheeks. "Where she is then ?" He asked, looking around him but seeing nothing.
"Your mummy is an angel always looking after her little child. Because that is what a mummy does. Taking care of their child." Quinn mustered a smile as she talked, remembering the good times she passed with her Aaron. "And even when those mothers are forced to part away their dear child, the memories will always stay in their mind."
" Mummy happy if I think of her ?"
"No, hun." She said. "If you cry, she will always be sad."
" Do you want me happy ?"
Quinn was taken aback by that question. She didn't know Sebastien for long as he came in the orphanage when she was ou but he reminded her so much of her Aaron. And she wanted her boy to be happy at all cost.
"Yes. I wish I could."
"Then do you want to be my mother !" Gleamed the young boy, his smile back on his face and his tears drying in his cheeks.
A boy so young could change emotions so easily, Quinn thought with a forced smile, thinking again and again of her Aaron who could be sad and happy again.
"I can't, hun." She said. "I'm nothing like a mother."
Then what I had been to him ? Her subconscious mused to herself and she bit her lip to the blood, keeping her tears inside her.
Thinking to much of her boy made her a mess.
"But I don't have a mommy !" Sebastien cried and his tears started rolling again. "And I want a mummy !"
She couldn't hold it. To see a child as small crying, she was seeing in flashes her boy when he was sad. She couldn't hold it. Her Aaron had been like her son and Sebastien was just like his reincarnation, at least to her eyes. And she couldn't say no to her baby. Because she loved him so much.
"Shh, calm down sweetheart." She hushed him, her hand stroking his shoulder as he looked her in the eyes, curiosity glittering in his cerulean eyes. "I'll be your mommy if you wish. I'll be your family, darling !"
Even if she fought herself by refusing to be close to the boy, she couldn't keep herself from thinking to her Aaron.
"Really ?" The child beamed with a grin and he threw his arms around the neck of the girl, his legs dancing under him. And he laughed. And she smiled.
And they were happy. Because they had found who they were seeking for.
Quinn and Sebastien.
Quinn with Aaron.
