Ibiki Morino? Wasn’t he some famous interrogator or something? Joy.
”You, from the Hidden Sound Village! No doing as you please before the exam!” Ibiki raised a hand in their direction. Uh oh. Busted. “You want to be failed at the get go?!”
The guy with a bunch of bandages spoke for the group. “Sorry. It’s our first time taking the Exams, so we flipped out... despite ourselves.”
“Humph. This is a good opportunity, so I’ll say this. There will be no battles, competitions, and the like without the permission of the proctors!” That’s good. I won’t have to worry about someone attacking me without any kind of warning at least.
”And even if you get permission, actions that could lead to the death of an opponent will not be permitted. Any pig that screws with me will be disqualified immediately. Got it?!”One of the other Sound Ninja smirked arrogantly as he gazed at Ibiki. “This exam looks to be easy!” From what I’ve been hearing it’s going to be anything but that. But this guy’s overconfident. Noted.
”Now then, we will start the first test of the Chunin Exam! Turn in your applications, take one of these number cards in exchange, and sit in the seat matching that number!” Ibiki held up a white card labeled one for us to see. “After that, we will hand out the paper for the written test!”
A written test?! Oh man you have got to be kidding me. No one told me there was gonna be a test! I hate tests! Especially surprise ones.
Over by the wall, Naruto started panicking. For good reason to. He’s terrible at this sort of thing.
We all lined up to get our numbers and one by one the seats began to fill. I ended up between that Sand Ninja girl who was traveling with Gaara and some random ninja from the Leaf. Looking around the room, I noticed that everyone’s seats were completely scattered. There were very few who were sitting next to a teammate, if any. Great.Ibiki picked up a piece of chalk, tapping it against the board. “There are several important rules to this first test. I will take no questions, so listen well accordingly! You are given 10 points each from the start! The written test has 10 problems in all! Each problem is one point. And, this test is a point deduction system. You get deducted one point for each problem you get wrong! If you get three wrong, you’ll have seven points! The second rule. Pass or failure will be determined by the total points of your squad.”
Well then. We’re screwed. Shame. Better luck next time I guess.
”W-wait a minute!” Sakura finished banging her head on her desktop and decided to speak up. “What do you mean... total points of the teams?”“Shut up! There is a perfectly good reason for this! Shut up and listen!”
He did say no questions Sakura. Did you not hear him?
”If you’ve got it, then on to the most important rule. Those who are deemed by the sentinels as having committed an act of cheating or something similar to that... will have two points deducted for each act. In other words... there may be those who will be dismissed during this test without waiting for test grading. Know that those he commit awkward cheating... will bring ruin upon yourselves. If you aspire to become a Chunin at all, know that Shinobi should act like exemplary Shinobi. And, I’m the case that of even one person on the team getting zero points... Everyone on that team will fail! By the way, the last problem will be given forty-five minutes after the start of the test! Begin!”
I stared at my sheet of paper blankly. If I don’t try and get at least one right Sakura and Sasuke will kill me. Guess I can’t nap. It’s not fair to my team. What a pain. Sighing, I flipped it over, grabbing my pencil.
