Chapter 30

Preston’s POV

We stopped at the diner for lunch and then headed home. Since Lina wasn’t there we didn’t have to sneak around which felt really good. It was still freezing cold so I made us some hot chocolate. We sat down on the couch and Katie took her prescribed pills. There were so many of them it actually scared me that she had to drink all of them.

“We have to celebrate,” I stated, I was way too excited to just sit there. I wanted to do something special for Katie and since nobody was home I had the perfect opportunity.

“Celebrate?” Katie asked smiling at me.

“Yes, I just have to figure out how,” I replied as my mind started wondering. I wanted to do something romantic for her, something that would make her feel special.

“Well, while you figure it out I’m going to go lie down for a while, I’m feeling a bit tired,” Katie said jokingly as she got up from the couch.

“So it will be a surprise as well,” I stated following her up the stairs. She didn’t say anything but gave me a huge smile that made my tummy do flips.

Once we were in my room she kicked off her shoes and got into bed. She looked really tired so I gave her a soft kiss on the lips and let her sleep. I would have liked to take her to a nice fancy restaurant but I didn’t think that was a really good idea. She might get sick and that would only embarrass her. I thought for a while and then decided that if I couldn’t take her to a restaurant I would bring the restaurant to her.

I made a few phone calls and then started searching through the house. My aunt and uncle had to have candles and stuff around here somewhere. It took me a while to set everything up but by the time the food arrived I was happy with how it looked. I put the food in the kitchen and then headed upstairs to check on Katie. She was still asleep so instead of waking her I got on to the bed with her and held her in my arms.

It wasn’t long until she started stirring and woke up.

“Your surprise is ready,” I whispered softly and watched as her lips turned into a smile. It was the most beautiful site on earth. I swear I would never get tired of seeing her happy.

“Oh yeah? What is it?” she asked giggling.

“You’ll have to come see for yourself,” I answered teasingly. I couldn’t wait for her to see what I have done. She looked really excited as she go up and started making her way over to the door.

“You have to give me a second, there is one more thing I need to do before you come down. Wait here, I’ll call you when I’m done,” I said and then rushed downstairs.

I quickly lit all the candles, pressed play on the sound system and then called Katie to come down. She came hurrying down the stairs but stopped in her tracks as she took in the scene in front of her. The expression on her face was priceless.

Katie’s POV

Nobody has ever done anything for me so when Preston said I could go downstairs to see my surprise I had no idea what to expect. I was nervous and excited as I made my way downstairs but nothing could have prepared me for what I saw.
