I must have been longer than I thought because when I returned, the waitress was back, and Jinx was ordering our food. She ordered for me, and the waitress was gone. I took a sip of wine, noticing the funky flavor. Not like normal white wine. It had a stronger taste, and the scent of alcohol was a little tainted. It was still good though. I took a couple more sips and set the glass down. Jinx smiled.
"I was beginning to worry you had run off or something." I laughed nervously, turning a little red.
"No, I would never. I'm sorry. Tommy called and I had to tell him there was a change in our plans for tonight," I lied.
"We were supposed to have dinner at his place tonight, but obviously he can't, and I'm not able to either." She nodded.
Dinner went well. We talked like friends the entire time, ate, and I finished the glass of wine, feeling a little lightheaded.
"I think I need to go home. I'm feeling a little tired, and lightheaded. Probably the stress from today." Jinx nodded and wrote a check, leaving it for the waitress, and led me to her car. On the drive home, I got super dizzy.
"Mmmm...something doesn't feel right. I'm feeling a little sick." Jinx didn't respond, she just pulled over. I glanced at my surroundings, my vision getting blurred.
"It's ok, Jasper. Just take a deep breath." I did, looking into her eyes as my vision blurred a little. Then, I felt a small pinch in my arm and noticed the little syringe injecting a clear liquid in my arm.
Everything went dark.
