"Jasper," Jinx cooed with a kind voice. I opened my eyes slightly, yawning, and forced myself to sit up. Jinx was sitting on the edge of the bed, dressed in a black sweatshirt and torn blue jeans.

"Yes?" I grumbled in response, not completely awake yet. Jinx stood and moved towards the door.

"Come here," she offered, motioning me to follow her. I slowly stood, pulling on the shirt she was clad in earlier, and followed her out of the room.

She led me down the stairs to the living room and told me to sit. I knelt on the floor between the couch and coffee table, and sat on my knees. Jinx went to the kitchen, grabbed a small black box out of the cupboard above the counter, and came back to me, sitting on the sofa.

"Up here, honey," she said, motioning for me to sit beside her. I did, slowly, and faced her.

"Am I in trouble? Did I do something wrong?" I asked, tears threatening to fall. She shook her head and placed a gentle hand on my knee.

"No, no of course not, baby. But I do have something for you. Just a little something for my sweet girl. You earned it."

I was a little surprised by her words; confused, mostly. She held up the little black box. A jewelry box, I thought. She motioned for me to take it.

"I had this made special just for you, baby. Open it." I took the box slowly and opened it, my eyes widening.
