Several months later, I found myself standing in an altar, facing the one I loved. My eyes stared into her beautiful shining eyes, unable to look away. Looking into them, I could see the red sparks that mixed in with her brown irises. They were like stars; too many to count.
In searching her eyes, only the gentle love and kindness of her heart and soul were present. I knew I'd made the right decision, and she knew it too.
As the priest spoke and read our vows, the only words to emerge from Jinx and I were, "I do."
Jinx's lips were on mine before the priest even had a chance to say "You may kiss the bride".
When her lips touched mine, I could see our future. I could picture us together in ten, twenty, thirty years, even. This is us.
Jinx and I walked hand in hand back down the aisle, smiling and waving at everyone as they all clapped and cheered, all the way out of the building and to the black town car that awaited us.
The roar of the engine as the car sped off with us in it marked the start of Jinx and I's future.
Together.
