*Jasper's POV*
I hugged Jinx's waist tight.
"Don't take her," I begged. I didn't want to leave Jinx. I felt oddly connected to her, like we were meant to be together.
Ignoring my protests, I was pulled away while Tommy put her in handcuffs and read Jinx her rights.
"You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be against you in the court of law." My ears began to ring as I pulled away from Curby and fought. He had a tight grip around my torso.
I watched with tears as she was put in a police car and taken away. Curby led me out of the house with his arm around my shoulders gently, his other hand holding mine as we walked.
The bright sun shone down as we slowly walked off the porch and onto the yard, towards an ambulance parked in the street. Why did I have to go to the hospital?
