Nine// the reason why

Donny's POV

Nang kuhain ni Mommy ang cellphone ko sumunod na din ako papasok ng bahay. When I entered si Daddy at ang umiiyak na si Ate Ella agad ang bumungad sakin, sunod ay ang mga papel na nakakalat sa lamesa.

Napalunok ako at biglang kinabahan. Porfolio at profile namin ni Ate Ella sa starmagic workshop ang hawak ni Daddy.

Alam na nila.

Dahan dahan akong umupo sa tabi ni Ate Ella, nakayuko at hindi matignan si Daddy sa mata. I'm so guilty for lying . . .for disobeying them.

"Why did you do this Donny?" Daddy said. "Are you rebelling?." 

My head still bowed. I run out of words. I don't know how could I explain myself. 

"But for what reason?" Daddy added, I can hear the frustration in his voice. "I . . . I don't understand why you chose to disobeyed us! You're the most obedient child of this family. But doing these things? I'm so disappointed Donny." 

My hand clench. Hearing all those hurtful words coming from my dad pained me. 

Being an actor is one of my dream. I'd tried to tell them a hundred times that I want to pursue Multimedia arts in college, but they always refused to hear me and telling me to chose business as my course. I don't want to pursue the things that I know I will regret at the end. I want to be who I wanted to be. What I felt, God wants me to be. I respect them, I know they want what's best for me and to the family. I'm the eldest son, all the pressure of being achiever are on my shoulders ever since I was a child. But now . . . I want to fight for the things that I think are worth fighting for.

So I keep myself and slowly looked at Daddy's eyes and faced his anger. "I'm not doing this because I want to disrespect you and Mom. I didn't meant any of that." Napalingon si Ate Ella sakin at hinawakan ang kamay ko, tila pilit akong pinapakalma. But I chose to ignore her and continued.

"I'm doing this because this is my dream. This is what I want to pursue as my career. Do you remember one time I told you that I want to take Multimedia Arts in college, but you pretend that you didn't heard me and continue discussing the other business courses." Napaiba ng tingin si Daddy, naalala ang lahat. "I know that you and mommy wants me to finish my studies and take the course that you want me to take. But did you ever asked me what I really want?"

"Donny! How dare you questioning our decisions--" Mommy said but I cut her before she said hurtful things. I want all of this to end.

"Mom this is what I want! I want to be an actor just like you! I want to inspire other people by being a good role model to them." huminto ako saglit at huminga ng malalim. "If you can't support me. . .then I think. . . this is the time that I need to be independent." After saying that I walk out of the room and leave all of them behind. Narinig ko ang sigaw ni Mommy, pilit akong pinabalik pero hindi ko sinunod. Kinuha ko ang cellphone ko sa lamesa at dire-diretso palabas ng bahay.

Pagkapasok sa loob ng kotse, agad kong tinawagan si Kisses.

"Where are you?" bungad ko ng sagutin niya ang tawag.

"D-dito sa laguna... nasa amusement park ako." Amusement park? Saang amusement park? Bigla kong naalala ang amusement park na pinuntahan namin ni Hannah noong nakaraan. Bagong gawa lang yun malapit sa isa sa mga mall dito. 

"I know that place. Don't go anywhere. Wait for me." agad kong binaba ang tawag at lumiko papunta sa amusement park na tinutukoy ni Kisses.

Nang makarating sa amusement park hinanap ko muna ang black jacket na naiwan ko noong nakaraan dito sa kotse. Lumabas ako ng naka black jacket at white cup.
