THERE WAS A TIME WHERE RORY WAS COMPLETELY OBLIVIOUS TO THE SUPERNATURAL WORLD. A time when she was just ant ordinary teenage girl going through normal teenage experiences. She was a girl who made friends almost instantly, the type of girl everyone wanted to know. She was popular and cheerful and sweet as candy with a wicked sense of humor. Funny where life takes you.

"Hayley, can I ask you about something?"

While Hayley was still living out in the Bayou with Eve, the unturned wolf who had told Hayley about the Crescent Wolf Curse and her true identity as Andrea Labonair, she returned to the Abattoir daily to give Rory company as well as steal blood bags from the kitchen.

No one was sure why Hayley had extraordinary control for a newborn hybrid, but with all the drama of Klaus' new regime, some strangeness was normal. Binge-watching shows in Rory's fancy apartment in the Abattoir never failed to distract from the chaos around them—most of it being Davina's unending temper tantrum since Klaus poisoned her crush. He really liked making enemies of people, it was almost impressive if it wasn't a nuisance.

"Fine," Hayley put her mug down with a reluctant sigh. "I'll tell you what I was really doing in the mansion."

Rory blinked once. "Oh. Uh, I was actually going to ask about this girl I've found...five, six, eight drawings of? One of the vampires mistakenly left a box of Klaus' things with mine...do you think it's another Mikaelson?" She opened the sketchbook she had found, but shot Hayley an alarmed look, "But you should also tell me about that other thing too."

"What girl..?" Hayley glanced at the charcoal drawings, recognizing the thin brows and pretty features, and stifled a scoff. "Oh, that's just Caroline." She moved onto her predicament with a guilt-ridden frown. "I was looking through Elijah's old journals to find the secret location he buried a witch he was in love with."

Rory was still stuck on the way she said the girl's name—Hayley personally knew her. "Wait, wait, wait—tell me the deal with Caroline, and then we'll get into your spiraling morality." Why did Klaus draw so many sketches of her? Was this his ex? And why is this bothering me so much?

Hayley sighed, none of her memories of Mystic Falls were particularly pleasant and honestly felt like a waste of time. "I guess I never told you the full story of why Klaus hated me. You see, I didn't just help Tyler break the sire bond because I'm a nice girl. I did it because...well, I liked him. A lot. But he had this girlfriend, Caroline Forbes—perky, cheerleading vampire that everyone liked," Hayley rolled her eyes as she thought of the blonde. She shot Rory a furtive look before continuing. "Including Klaus."

"Oh."

"Yeah, oh," Hayley said, her face plastered with a shit-eating grin, finding joy in the peculiar shade of green Rory's face was, even if she would never admit it. "When Tyler was sired to Klaus, he was an annoying little shit, even more so, did every task Klaus asked, the perfect minion. And he pushed Caroline away, right into the sight of Klaus, who's clearly a sucker for brokenhearted girls. But after I helped Tyler break the bond, Caroline and him got back together, effectively putting a stop to any budding romance between Klaus and her. Thus, he hated me and hated Tyler even more, and left Mystic Falls altogether."
