When the doorbell rang bright and early the next morning, Rory assumed Elijah had finally returned as Klaus said he would be. The whole house was awaiting his return eagerly, the peacemaker would help to ease the tension amongst the household members finely. Elijah was the only person who could keep Klaus at bay, reassure Rebekah, entertain Hayley, and discuss baby things with Rory.
She had been awake since dawn, no longer able to sleep with the strange chanting Sabine had said on her mind. She still hadn't told anyone, not even Hayley and they had even stayed up late last night talking about the werewolf's experience baiting Marcel's vampires out in the Quarter. Apparently the plan had worked and Marcel's number 1, Thierry, had been buried alive or something, so Klaus had really regained Marcel's favor while keeping Hayley and most importantly, Rory's, presence in the city a secret. The whole scheme appeared to be on its way; hopefully fully resolved in a few weeks rather than months.
She happily opened the door, not bothering to check the peephole, only to find a taller, beautiful blue-eyed, blonde-haired woman standing on the other end. Definitely not Elijah. And most strange of all, a human.
She could tell the stranger was human by her innocent, yet curious disposition as she stared bewilderedly at the mansion. And the fact she made eye contact with Rory. All of Klaus' servants typically avoided eye contact with her as they were all compelled to ignore her for "security reasons" as Klaus explained when Rory had grown annoyed with the fact she couldn't have a simple conversation with the people cleaning up after everyone.
"Oh, hello," Rory greeted her kindly, thinking the woman must be really lost or something as why else would a human travel so far out from the city and deep into an old plantation? At least it was nice to interact with someone who didn't want to kill her or her child. "Can I help you?"
The stranger gave her an awkward smile. "Hi? Sorry, I don't mean to bother you." The woman felt bad as she could tell the girl had probably just woken up by her pajama attire and the early hour. The blonde smiled unsurely, "I might have gotten the address wrong...is there a...Klaus here? He invited me?"
"Oh." Rory blinked. She swallowed as she suddenly understood the woman's purpose for coming over. She was an invited guest. Okay. Cool.
"Yeah, he's in his office. Come in then." Rory swung the door open fully, stepping aside to allow the woman inside the mansion.
The blonde's eyes widened even more as she looked around the grand foyer, looking up to see the crystal chandelier above them, which was exposed to the three floors, the expensive furniture, shiny dark wood flooring. Then, the woman's gaze landed back on Rory, who no longer hidden by the heavy, dark oak door, stood fully in the light. Wearing only pajama pants and a black tank top that clung to her skin, Rory had never second thought her choice of clothing, not caring to hide her state since she never left the house, until now.
"Woah," the woman's eyes widened as she stared at Rory's pronounced baby bump, "you're..."
"Pregnant...yeah," Rory said awkwardly. Her bump was truly growing by the day, she no longer fit the jeans she had arrived in and resorted to nice stretchy pajama pants and leggings. She pressed her palm to her rounded bump which the stranger's eyes were trained on, shocked at the sight of a pregnant teenager.
