I always wondered how I wake up. I don't know why I wake up in the morning without an alarm, I just do and that's amazing to me. I sat up in bed and looked around my room like I was in some unknown place. Something feels new.

I feel like I have accomplished something. Like I have something new to have with me everyday.
I got up and hopped in the shower. I like the water scorching hot because I'm cold in the mornings. I change into a plain white shirt and my baseball jersey. I put some jeans on and fold them at the bottom. My black belt was hanging off my closet door so I grabbed that and slipped it through the belt loops in my pants. I put my LA Dodgers hat on and last but not least... my black PF Flyers.

I brushed my teeth and walked into the kitchen grabbing a bowl, filling it with cereal and pouring in milk. I got spoonfuls until I couldn't anymore and washed my plate. My mom knew where I go every morning so she didn't worry about where I was.

I walked out and made my way to the sandlot.

As Benny made his way to the sandlot to meet the boys, Jasmine was just waking up. She had a hard time sleeping due to the fact that she was going over to Benny's house today. Who knew if Jasmine's mother was going to attend the dinner, but Jasmine wasn't going to miss it. She couldn't.

Benny's mother was caring and full of love. Jasmine's mother was full of shit. She got up and looked at herself in a mirror that she hung on her wall. Her finger traced the hand that was printed down on her face, examining it closely. Her mom came home after a long night of trying to find a guy to fuck. No luck. She was angry, angry that no one wanted her, she wasn't loved, she knew her daughter didn't love her either, hell she didn't even love herself. Which is one of the reasons she was so cruel to Jasmine, her own daughter didn't love her and it was all her fault. Jasmine's mother wonders where she went wrong. She wants to be a better mother but there was no going back from all this.

Jasmine also was losing love for herself. She didn't want to make it obvious, but she needed help, she was pleading for help. Her first impression on Benny was bitchy but she didn't know how to control it. It irks her soul that she has to be like that. But she was on her own and has been ever since her dad's death.
But maybe this could all change, she thought about how her only "friend" is Benny. Maybe she needed a real friend. She swiftly changed and brushed her hair and teeth. She didn't even bother to eat breakfast. Anything to avoid her dreadful mother.

She walked out and walked her way down to find herself a friend. Maybe she'll meet someone who can help her. Jasmine was ready to put her guard down and let someone in. It could be a gratifying experience for her. She walked by restaurants and stores and the drugstore where she crashed into Benny. She found it odd that reminiscing on this moment made her smile. What made her smile fade was that her mom didn't even ask what had happened to her daughter. She had the audacity to slap her not to care for her.

She walked by a Starbucks where she saw a girl on her phone. She hated Starbucks girls but Jasmine was losing her patience. She walked up and stood there a second. The girl didn't even look up when she spoke to Jasmine.

"If your trying to be friends with me, don't even shoot that shot. It's not gonna happen." The girl finally looked up and took a sip of her coffee, putting her phone down. Jasmine had forgotten all about this plan she had made in her head and was now concentrated on the ignorant girl in front of her.
