prompt - nini and ricky get caught in the snow during their date in the city

january meant two things in salt lake city; tourist for skiing and snow, a lot of snow. a blizzard was set to hit the following day despite there being snow on the ground. nini, however, wanted to get out of the house before the storm hit. naturally, she decided to text her boyfriend.
nina 🥰: are you busy later?
richard 🤩: nope, what were you thinking?
nina 🥰: lunch and a walk around in the city?
richard 🤩: i'm so down. there's a train at 12:15, does that work?
nina 🥰: yup. see you then :)
right as nini sent the final text, she rushed downstairs to where her moms sat watching tv. "can i go into the city with ricky today? please, before the storm," nini practically begged.
dana looked to carol who simply shrugged. "sure but remember to stay-" before she could even finish, nini was up the stairs to get read.
she got changed into a pair of jeans with an oversized white sweater. she paired it with her doc martins and winter coat. it was going to be cold so nini left her hair down and pulled on a beanie.
around 11:45, she received a text from ricky saying he was here. nini quickly grabbed her backpack and headed back downstairs. "bye moms! i'll text you when we arrive and are leaving," nini called out as she walked out the door. ricky stood leaned up against the car with a wide smile on his have. he was dressed in black jeans with a tan crewneck and his jean jacket as well as a winter coat with vans of course.
"you look cute," ricky complimented making nini blush.
"not as cute as you," she replied, quickly kissing him after she slid into the passengers seat. it only took a few minutes for them to arrive at the train station. after purchasing their tickets, the couple sat down on the platform. small take was exchanged until the train arrived.
unsurprisingly, ricky and nini were the only people on the train. there was a huge snow storm coming their way anyway.
"picture time," nini told ricky as she pulled out her phone.
they squished their faces together, both with bright smiles displayed. "cool if i post it on instagram?" nini asked ricky. he nodded. "sure, we look good in it," ricky replied making nini laugh.

the train arrived to the main city station 20 minutes later. ricky grabbed nini's hand and pulled her off of the train, a smile on both of their faces. "where are we eating?" ricky asked.
"spitz, i know how much you love their food," nini replied.
"ugh, you're the best."
the walk to spitz was another 10 minutes in the cold but neither seemed to mind. they were just happy that they were together. the wind soon picked up, making it feel colder than it already was. thankfully, they arrived at the restaurant.
over the course of lunch, ricky and nini discusses everything from their families to weekend plans to the spring musical. ricky had promised he would audition after all. after paying, ricky slipped his credit card in before nini could notice, the two stood up, putting on their jackets and hats.
"are you still up for that walk? i know it's cold," nini asked. ricky nodded. "yup, i'm sure it's nothing we can't handle," he responded with a wink. right down the street from the restaurant was a park with different walking paths.
it was silent for the first portion of the walk, both were content in their own thoughts. until ricky decided to speak up.
"i'm really happy we're doing this."
nini stopped walking. "doing what? if you're talking about going on a date i don't want to say it's not a big deal but," she trailed off. ricky took her hands on his. "no well yes. i'm happy we're on this date but i meant us as a whole."
nini's mouth went into an 'o' shape. "me too," nini responded before leaning up and kissing ricky's cheek making him blush. "aw is someone whipped?" she teased. ricky playfully glared.
ricky then pulled nini closer to him before leaning down and connecting their lips. nini was a bit surprised at first but soon moved her hand up to his cheek. it was such an intimate moment for both of them. as the two disconnected, they both looked up at the sky.
"hey look, it's snowing," nini spoke.
true to her word, snowflakes were beginning to fall from the sky. both knew they needed to get home to avoid the storm that seemed to be coming early but neither car.
"just kiss me again," ricky grinned and nini did just that. a perfect end to a perfect day.
