Chapter 4- Multiverse

Peter's POV:

Nick Fury and I drifted through the canal until Cassie eventually showed up.

"Stark left these for you." Mr Fury said as he handed us a case.

Inside the case was a pair of Mr Stark's glasses.

"'Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown'." He said.

"I-I'm sorry... what?" Cassie asked.

"Stark said you wouldn't get that because it's not a Star Wars reference." Me Fury said.

"I probably wouldn't understand even if it was a Star Wars reference." Cassie said.

We arrived in like a secret base or something and we exited the boat.

"Remove your masks." Mr Fury ordered.

"I'm sorry, what?" Cassie asked.

"Everyone here has seen you without it. You'd only be feigning anonymity and breathing through spandex for no good reason." He explained.

Cassie and I both removed our masks.

"I'm personally not sure how I feel about all of this." Cassie muttered, sounding annoyed.

"There, we have Maria Hill, and Dimitri." He said, pointing to his... assistants I guess you could call them.

"And this is Mr Beck." Mr Fury finished.

"Mysterio?" I asked.

"What?" Beck asked, confused.

"Doesn't matter." I answered quickly.

"It's just what our friends have been calling you." Cassie added.

"Well, you can call me Quentin." Beck said.

We shook hands and Beck turned to Cassie, who also shook his hand.

"You two handled yourselves really well out there. We could've use people like you in my world." Beck said.

"Thank you. I'm sorry, did you say 'your world'?" Cassie asked, confused.

"Mr Beck is from Earth, just not yours." Mr Fury explained.

"There are multiple realities, this is Earth dimension 616; I'm from Earth 833." Beck clarified.

"I'm sorry, are you saying there's a multiverse?" I asked. "Because I thought that was just theoretical. I mean, that completely changes how we understand the initial singularity.."

I stopped rambling when Mr Fury and Ms Hill glared at me. Cassie chuckled next to me.

"Don't ever apologize for being the smartest person in the room." Beck said to me.

Cassie's POV:

"They were born from stable orbit. Within black holes, creatures formed from the four basic elements: earth, water, fire and air. The science division had a name; we just called them the elementals." Beck explained.

"Fair name." I mumbled.

"Versions of these creatures exist within our mythology." Maria Hill stated.

"These myths... are real." Beck said.

"Like Thor. Thor was a myth and now we study him in our physics class." Peter said.

"These myths, are threats." Fury said.

"Well I mean, yeah. I got my butt wrecked by the water Elemental earlier..." I thought.
