Anthony and I walked over to the beach. We sat in our favorite spot.
"God, I missed this place so much."
"Well, this place certainly missed you."
I smiled shyly.
"You know, sometimes I still come here when I'm feeling down. Then, I don't feel so bad, because I remember you."
I looked at Anthony, and it turns out that he was looking at me the whole time.
"Anthony, I missed you so much. I constantly look at the pictures of us on my phone, not only when I'm sad, but when I'm happy, too. You know why?"
"Why?"
"Because I'd wish that you were there with me."
We were silent for a moment, and we looked out at the waves.
"You know, I wear the necklace you gave me everyday."
"Really?"
"Yeah. It helps me get through the day. I'm also wearing it right now."
I held up the necklace in his direction to show him. He smiled warmly.
"Glad you like it."
Again, silence fell and we were left only with the sounds of the waves. I just stared out into the sea, taking it all in.
"Hey, Mag, what's your new friend's name?"
"Oh, his name is Josh. He's been very nice to me."
"Oh yeah, I remember you mentioning him before. So, you guys ARE friends now?"
I laughed, remembering how I never would've been friends with Josh if Anthony hadn't pushed me.
"Yeah. We're good friends actually."
"That's good."
He seemed a little nervous.
"Of course, he could never ever replace you. You're my best friend."
Anthony looked at me straight in the eyes and smiled immensely.
"You think so?"
I nodded.
"I know so."
The energy between us was so strong at that moment. He was like a magnet. The two of us leaned closer and...
Josh jogged up behind us.
"Hey guys! You ditched me!"
He said that with a chuckle.
Anthony and I immediately pulled away from each other.
"Oh, hey Josh. Yeah, you told me to leave you if you fell asleep so,"
"Yeah, but I didn't mean run off to the beach without leaving a bit of some sort."
He chuckled again.
I didn't laugh. I directed my attention at Anthony again, and he seemed embarrassed that Josh walked in on us basically. He wouldn't look at Josh at the moment.
"Um, Josh, I'll show you to you're room in my house. Mag, you too."
He finally looked at Josh waiting for a response.
"Let's go." Josh said.
***
Anthony showed us to his guest room.
"This is it."
"Thanks! I can't wait to sleep!" Josh said.
Anthony turned to me.
"You can sleep in my room if you want."
I smiled.
"I'd love that."
