Burn The Books

Chapter 2

      My feet dig into the grass as I run to Charles's home. I ket out heavy breaths, and for some reason it feels like somebody is following me. I stop, in the middle of the woods. The book is weighing me down, sucking out the energy from me. I let out a cough, and look around. Needing a break, I stand there. The book slips from the bookbag, and I feel 100x better. My eyes close and I feel myself get lifted into the air, its soothing, not harsh like you see in those scary movies. A small smile creeps upon my lips, something is holding me, cradling me like a baby. I hear my mothers voice. "Allisana!" she calls out. I can see her, she's reaching out for me, crying. I don't see dad. Where is he? That's when I feel the strange being drop me. Somebody shakes me, hard. I sit up quickly and scream. Covering my face, I start sobbing.
I feel a strong pair of hands remove my hands, and cup my cheeks. My eyes open to see Charles. "Lee!" I always called him by his middle name, but he called me 'Nugget' don't know why.
His arms wrap around me, and I sink into the embrace.
Charles stroked my back and sighed. "What're you doing out here..? You could've gotten yourself killed." He made me look up at him. "Nugget?" I just shake my head. "I.. I was in the air! Something was holding me! Cradling me! I saw my mom-" He covered my mouth, his eyes wide. "Sh!" I went quiet and stared at him.
"..that book.." he slowly uncovered my mouth. Charles grabbed the book, with one hand. Which, made me jealous because it was obvious how weak she was.
Charles opened it and read the first page.
"You were snooping again.. weren't you?" He asked.
"pfft.. No!" I lie. "uh-huh.. then why do you have this book?" He shoved it into my hands. "You weren't supposed to find this for a reason, Nugget." He explained. Feeling bad I look down at the book. The day was already almost over, but as soon as I let a tear drop onto the first page, it flipped to the second. Writing started to appear.
We both stood up and backed away. "Charles..?" I ask. I can't see him anymore, I can't see anything. Closing my eyes, I see my mom again. Crying. Wanting. Needing. I reach out to her, but she's too far away. I feel myself get dragged away. As I screamed and sobbed, calling out for my mom, I slowly realize that I'm dizzy.
I don't realize that I'm actually.. floating till I open my eyes, and fall down from the air. Charles, catches me and holds me close. "what the hell, is happening Allisana!? What did you DO!?" He yelled and set me on my feet. "I don't.. I don't know, Lee.." I whisper. My head hurts. My eyes roll into the back of my head, and everything goes black.
