Harry Potter: The Next Generation

Birthday party (year one)

--------August 30 two days before the first day of school(a.k.a my birthday)--------
Today is my 11th birthday and I am super excited because I have already received my Hogwarts letter, and I have all of my supplies for school, plus my Mum and Dad had planned a Quidditch themed birthday party for me. My favourite Quidditch team is the Holyhead Harpies. And my favourite Quidditch player on the team is Ginny Potter, but Dad says that I shouldn't because of the things that happened when he was at Hogwarts, or, because she used to be a Weasley (Dad told me about them but just that he didn't get along with them growing up). Dad thought that the Weasley's were blood-traitors because they were fascinated with Muggles, and their acceptance of Muggleborns. But dad doesn't care about that anymore in fact he is kinder towards muggleborns, and the Weasley's. Though he tries to avoid them(the Weasley's) when possible.

When the party started my Dad had games all planned out for me and my friends. Games such as, pin the tail on the dragon, pick the lucky broomstick, guess that Quidditch player, etc. it was an all girls party but being the great little sister I am, I let Scorpius join in on the fun.

When the party was over I asked my Dad if a couple of my friends could stay over he said "of course they can sweetheart, as long as it is OK with their parents".

Later that night Leah, Kimberly, and I were talking about what to expect when we get to Hogwarts.

"I heard that the first years get to ride on boat to the castle" Kim said

"That's true my brother's first year at Hogwarts was two years ago and told me about the boats" I said

"What house do you think you will be put into, I want to be put into Gryffindor." Leah said with a huge smile on her face.

"I think I would be put into Ravenclaw, because all of my family was in Ravenclaw, but I really want to be in Slytherin." Kim said glumly.

"Kim you seem really upset about that, well I hope you get in Slytherin. I heard that the black family on my dads side, that one person in the family did not get put into Slytherin, he got put into Gryffindor, so anything is possible, even though all of your family is in Ravenclaw you could still be put in Slytherin."

"Thanks Gelina, that really cheered me up."

"You're one of my best friends and that's what best friends do."

"So what house do you think you will be put into Gelina." Kim asked

"Well my whole family has been in Slytherin for centuries, but I will let the Sorting Hat do the work. Haha"

Scorpius over heard the conversation on what houses we would be put in when we got to Hogwarts and told my Dad what we were thinking. But when he came to my room we were all sound asleep, except for me(but I pretended to be asleep) so he left us alone till morning.

***************The Next Morning****************

As my friends and I were coming down to breakfast of pancakes, eggs and toast, my Dad pulled me aside to ask me something. He said "what house do you think you will be put into?"

I replied with, "Slytherin. But what if I'm not in Slytherin?"

Dad replied with " if you're not in Slytherin. Well that doesn't matter, and I already know that you are a great witch, and any house would be happy to have you."

"Thanks Dad"

"You're welcome sweetheart."

I hugged my Dad and I went to join my friends at the breakfast table. Mum and Dad were awkwardly quiet. It was just so un-natural. I guess Dad must have told Mum about our little chat a couple of minutes ago.

10 minutes later I asked Daddy if I could go outside with my friends and ride our broomsticks. I've gotten really good at flying and Dad told me that I could be the next seeker, because I feel so natural on a broomstick and I have great eyesight to see the snitch. (That's a little golden ball with wings that is worth 150 point to the seeker who catches it).

It was a little after Dinner time when we came in. So Mum made us sandwiches and told Leah and Kim that it was time to go home. So I said goodbye to my friends and that I would see them on the Hogwarts express tomorrow.

Later that day my Dad decided to get out his old Nimbus 2001 and show me some of his tricks to seeing and catching the snitch. I didn't really pay attention though he just thought I did and that was enough for him.

************************Supper time*********************

Everybody was very talkative at the table tonight. Scorpius and I were taking about going to school the next day. Mum and Dad were talking about how they were going to have an empty house till Christmas.

When supper was over Scorpius and I went to bed because we knew that we had a huge day tomorrow and we didn't want to be tired when we got to the train station.

"Goodnight Scorpius"

"Goodnight Gelina"

"Goodnight mum, Goodnight Dad"

"Goodnight sweetheart. Goodnight champ"

"Goodnight Mum and Dad"

Then we all went to sleep.
