just a feeling

you're looking away
afraid of my words
because the things you love always hurt you the most

I can't look away
searching myself
because maybe the feeling you want isn't lost

if I speak now
I'll lose what we've got
because the truth never comes without cost

what does it feel like?
how do you know?
I want to be certain before I let out my thoughts

it's not just a feeling
but I understand
I might give you my heart
but never my hand

and I've been thinking
something could change
but that something's not me and it's selfish to let this go on

you were enough
I promise you that
and if my words hurt you just know I was wrong

if love is a feeling
I hope it stays
because it's under everything I never said all along

if it's just a feeling
please understand
you gave me your heart
I'm sorry—
