Brothers

Chapter Eight
Rocky's POV

He had stayed up all night working on it. It was his and his brothers gift to Rydel. Half of it at least.

They had stayed up writing and recording for a week, trying to perfect it before the big day. It was finally ready.

"What is it Rocky?" Ellington asked him.

"Just come here" he sat at the computer and pulled up the slideshow. "Just watch."

He was smiling even before he pressed play, just knowing how special the video was.

The guitar cords for Look at us Now began, and he spun to look at the confusion in Ellington's face.

"Just wait for it" he reassured him.

Seconds later, the photo of a small baby wrapped in pink appeared, followed by a second picture of a small boy, with dark hair.

Rocky smiled.

The song started playing as the photographs progressed throughout the early stages of Ellington and Rydel's lives.

The video showed dance photos and embarrassing school photos. Eventually, the photos began to merge as more and more photos were taken with both Ratliff and Rydel in them together.

Cryptic messages and tweets between the two would occasionally emerge and then disappear behind more smiling pictures of the couple.

By the end of the song, a final picture faded in, showing a very happy Rydel and Ellington, holding their daughter between them.

'Look at us Now' was the last thing to fade out before the video ended. Rocky couldn't help but smile.

"What do you think?" he asked Ellington.

"Rocky man that's beautiful" he looked taken back, at a loss for words.

"Oh don't go all soft on me now Ell, you haven't even seen the best part."

"What do you mean I haven't seen the best part?" Ell asked.

"I can't reveal all of my secrets" Rocky winked at him. "That was just an exclusive sneak peak for my best friend. You're gonna have to wait until tomorrow for the rest."

Ellington smiled at him. "Oh fine!"

They laughed together. Rocky couldn't wait to have him officially his brother.

"You know what I find funny?" Rocky said. "How when we were younger, we always dreamed that we would be brothers for real. I don't think either of us expected it would actually happen."

"It's funny how life works, isn't it?" Ellington smiled at him.

"Yea it is" Rocky agreed. "Somehow, people always get what they deserve"

"And we deserve to be brothers" Ell winked at him, grinning.

Rocky smiled. Brothers. Forever.
