Chapter Ten

Damn August really shocked me tonight. I always knew he had it in him, I just never thought he would let loose like that. He was hurting just like the rest of us. Aubrey was giving me the death stare.

"Why the fuck you looking at me like that?" I asked him already knowing the answer.

"How the fuck you going against family taking up for that nigga? You riding wit that nigga instead of me?" He asked me with a lot of base in his voice.

I never wanted to have this conversation with Aubrey because I know my truth will hurt his feelings. The love and respect that I have for Desire has always made me hold back, but tonight I had time.

I laughed like somebody just told a crazy ass joke. Everyone looked at me like I had just lost my fucking mind.

"Aubrey you a fucking clown. Let's keep this shit all the way a thousand. The only reason that myself, my husband, and Shad never put hands on your ass was out of respect for Desire because she begged us not too. I been told her to let ya ass go cause you not shit. You keep apologizing for the same mistakes. Your a great father I will never take that from you but you are a terrible fucking husband. You have humiliated her so many times I can't even count. You have been the reason for so many nights of her crying. You have been the source of her greatest pain loosing her child. All her insecurities and self doubt is because of you. August has done nothing but shown her respect and happiness. She just hurts him because her heart is so wrapped up in your lying no good for nothing ass." I said feeling like a huge weight was just lifted.

Tears fell from his eyes as he looked at me like he didn't recognize me.

"How many times Aubrey have I told you to stop hurting her? How many? It's been so many you can't even remember. August is very deserving of Desire's love. Your kids love him and he loves them. Sign them divorce papers and let her go be happy." I said honestly as I could.

I am so tired of seeing her hurt or stressed out because of Aubrey. Aubrey was about to say something to me when the doctor came out.

"Is the family of Mrs. Graham here?" He asked.

I walked up to him. "Yes we're her sisters and this is her husband. Is she ok doctor?" I asked tears falling.

"She is in critical condition. The one bullet was only two inches from her heart but the second one hit her lung and kidney before exiting her body. She lost a large amount of blood and she will need two more surgeries. We had to revive her twice during surgery. She is stable as of now but it's still touch and go. We will see how she makes it through the night. Please go home rest there is nothing else we can do right now." He said before heading back in the back.

Carlos came off the elevator with Kelly and August in tow. We informed them of what the doctor said. Shad was still in police custody for assaulting a police officer.

"Baby why did they release you?" I asked him.

"They patched me up and I told them I needed to get up here to my sister. They didn't release me I just needed to know what was happening with Des." He said.

We all just cried and said a silent prayer that she would pull through. I couldn't imagine going through the rest of this life without Des. She was my sister and my bestfriend.

"I need to go be with my kids right now." Aubrey said heading to the elevator.

"I will come by and see them on my way home." I said.

He turned around and the look he gave me if looks could kill I would have dropped dead.

"Nah don't. Your mother picked up your children already so you good on that. You not welcome in my house no more." He said coldly and exited.

"AUBREY! AUBREY! YOU CAN'T KEEP MY BABIES FROM ME!" I yelled at him as he vanished behind the elevator doors.

The truth hurts they always said ,but don't keep me away from my niece's and nephew. I would put Aubrey in a grave if he thought he could keep them babies from me.
