We started to walk down the steps and people gawked. Men stared opened mouthed and women glared at the men with envy. James held back a laugh and I smiled. We walked and stood in front the of the King and Queen where they introduced us as Prince and Princess James and Rosalie. People stared to whisper excitedly but he continued to say I was new within the Kingdom. Music started and James turned to look at me and winked. I put a hand on his shoulder and slid the other into his while he placed a hand on  my lower back and we began to dance. People watched as we whirled around the floor in a very advanced dance.

Soon Daniel and Aislen started to dance but they danced differently than we did. Aislen kept looking at her feet and obviously didn't know how to dance as well as Daniel thought. Everyone joined in and the whole room was one big dance. I looked around at all the amazing dresses and beautiful hairstyles. Every girl looked lovely and every man was smiling at his girl. I looked at James suddenly and realized he was looking at me with curiosity.

"What?"

He smiled.

"You don't act like a Princess. Princesses could care less about dresses and jewelry and never talk nicely to their maids but you- you're different. You act like you have never seen a ball before."

"That's because I haven't."

He looked at me with a smile but I wasn't joking. His face looked at me in shock and I smiled and nodded. This was my first ball I have ever been too. He shook his head and looked down.

"Well, you sure know how to dance. How have you never been to a ball before? Was there none at Darrien?"

I smiled.

"My parents never let me leave the castle ever. It was like I was trapped and when she told me I was going to become Queen I left. I knew I didn't want to stay there anymore but I didn't know any other life. I moved to a small island to live with a family friend but it didn't feel like home. When Daniel came I instantly felt better and he ended up talking me out of my relationship and into moving to Valencia."

He listened and nodded his head like he knew the feeling.

"When I left here I was almost positive I would never come back. The same happened with me but it just took me longer to get back and I never was in a relationship."

I raised an eyebrow and smirked.

"A guy like you never in a relationship? Surprising."

He smirked.

"No surprise you had a relationship. How many was that?"

"One and it was a accident."

He raised the eyebrow this time.

"Mishaunter?"

I laughed. He looked at me like I was crazy but I couldn't stop laughing.

"Mishaunter? What the heck is a mishaunter?"

He smiled and realized why I was laughing.

"It means accident."

I smiled.

"I believe I said accident not ox-ident!"

He laughed.

"Now you are making fun of my accent?"

"Your ox-cent?"

He smiled and shut his mouth. I laughed and people stared at us with weird looks. James hadn't spoken for a few minutes and I was starting to feel bad. "I'm sorry. I like your ox-cent. It's cute how you pronounce things differently."

"So how did this accident happen?"

I giggled and he rolled his eyes.

"I fell on him and we were really close so he decided to kiss me and it escalated to him asking me to be his girlfriend. It literally lasted like a day and then Daniel showed up."

"You dated someone for one day? That was your only relationship ever?"

I smiled.

"Yes, that was my only relationship ev-a."

He laughed and the song changed to a different tempo and style. It was a tango now so James held our arms straight out to the side and held me close against him. We danced with quick sharp steps and every once in a while James would dip me down and snap me back up with speed. I laughed with delight and James smiled. The songs switched but we kept dancing. The night ended and we lined up and shook hands or kissed cheeks of noble who were leaving. Many of the men my age kissed my hand and some even my cheek. I smiled politely and bid them goodbye.

I walked upstairs with James after the party and we went to our separate rooms. I walked in mine and started to get undressed when I felt two hands grasp tightly on my waist. I turned around but then he grabbed my arms and pinned me against the wall. I didn't know the man but I could tell he was drunk. His breath reeked of alcohol and his eyes were glazed over. I tried to tell him to get off of me but he pressed his mouth against mine. I tried to fight but he held my arms tightly and I couldn't move.

His mouth finally broke free of mine and I yelled for James knowing that he would be able to hear me but my reward from the man was him knocking my head against the hard wall. My vision blurred in and out and my brain felt like it was full of cotton. My ears were ringing and I could no longer control my body. The man took advantage of this and tore at the dress. I heard it rip and felt it fall at my feet. Soon unwanted hands felt up my waist and grasp my chest. His alcohol reeking mouth found mine again and with all the strength I had left I tried to fight.

I soon hear the splintering sound of wood and James and Daniel burst into the room. For just a split second both stood there horrified at the scene. Daniel ran over and pulled the guy off and with one punch he fell to the floor. My knees buckled and James ran over and caught me before I could fall. I was coming back to my senses and could hear him calling my name. My first reaction was to push him away. I felt like I didn't want to be touched ever again. I back away to the far wall and leaned against it for support. Then like someone flipped a switch I sunk to the ground and started to bawl. Daniel looked over at me longing but started to haul the guy out of the room.

James hesitated but slowly walked over and wrapped his jacket around my shoulders. I held the jacket closed and held my knees against my chest. He stepped away and a few seconds later Mary came running into the room and sighed with relief when she saw me okay. She sat by me and let me cry into her. She rocked us back and forth and calmed me down. James stood against the wall with a pained face. His hands were shaking and he quickly left the room. Pretty soon I could hear him yelling and the sound of something shatter. The King and Queen came up to see me. The King informed me that the man was arrested and left quickly. The Queen stayed and kneeled beside me. She smoothed my hair back and slowly hummed a calming tune.

Next door I could hear the King talking with James, probably thing to calm him down. They yelled back and forth somethings I couldn't understand but it slowly faded and heard the King leave back down stairs. The Queen left only when I was calmed down. Mary helped me into bed and promised she would stay in here all night. I drifted off into a sleep and dreamed about James and I dancing back in the ball room.
