I was on my hands and knees digging in the soft dirt by the side of the ranch house. I dug hole after hole and planted rose bushes along the house. I had finished the chores for the day and decided to do some gardening. The sun beat down on me and made my shirt stick to my back. I planted the last bush and started to pack the dirt around it when I heard a noise behind me. I turned around and Julia and Natalie came walking up to the house. I brushed off my hands and put my gloves in the back pocket of my jeans.

"Hey, what are you guys doing?"

Natalie and Julia came skipping over. Julia was in her usual shorts, tank top, and plain shirt tied as a crop top. Natalie and I became friends within the second day here. It has been a week and Julia and Natalie have been making plans to get me out of the house.

"We were going to go to the beach and wondered if you wanted to come?"

"Please, Rosalie! We were going to buy new swim suits and everything. You need a break."

Julia and Natalie looked at me with pleading eyes. I stood up and looked at them with a smile. They have been bugging all week. I sighed and put a hand over my eyes to block the sun.

"I would love to go but I don't swim."

Julia and Natalie looked at me with smirks.

"What do you not like about swimming?"

Julia said this as she crossed her arms. I sighed and looked at Natalie for help but she looked at me with interest too. I put my hands on my hips and looked at Julia.

"I don't like being seen in a swimsuit. If it makes you feel better I'll go with but I'm not going in the water."

Both of them laughed and pulled me into the house so I could change. Julia did my makeup while Natalie picked out my outfit. I felt like a living barbie doll that two girls were playing with. I ended up walking out of the house wearing a white lace tank top  with a blue polkadot skirt. The lace ran from the sleeves to cover the whole back. They paired this with a matching blue purse and white flip-flops. Julia had done a natural color makeup that made it look like I wasn't wearing makeup at all.

I stood at the front of the house and held my arms out and turned for them. They both squealed and ran up to hug me. I laughed and looked at myself. Julia hooked one arm with me and Natalie took the other as we walked to the main island. I was actually excited to get away from the ranch for awhile.

We walked onto Black Rock Island and stopped at Natalie's house so she could change into her black swim suit. It had a brass ring in the front where the to parts connected. She wore a long white button down shirt over it and kept the middle button buttoned. We then stopped at Julia's where she changed into a neon green bikini and followed suit with Natalie except with a black button down shirt. We left the house and Elliot came walking by. He stared at Julia and she waved at him. He nearly tripped over his own feet. Natalie laughed and pulled Julia onwards.

"Julia, what was that about with Elliot?"

Julia laughed and Natalie rolled her eyes.

"Elliot likes me but won't ask me out because he is afraid of his sister."

Natalie smiled and grabbed my arm.

"He's a smart boy if you ask me. I'm only doing this so he will ask her and toughen up. If he asked her I would stop teasing him but he never does so I keep teasing."

I smiled and we walked across the bridge to the other main island called Little Rock. The beach was on the other end of the island and the bookstore was right next to it. It also had a mansion, a diner, and the work shop. We walked past the diner and heard our names being called. A guy came walking over in a white tank top and purple shorts. He had a dark tan and dark brown curly hair. His brown eyes skimmed over Julia and Natalie to fall on me. He ran a hand through his hair and looked at Julia quick before he focused on me.
