Aurora took a slurp of her iced coffee.
"At this rate, all this trauma and bullshit slides off me like water of my back. Feelings? Don't know her."
Amanda raised her eyebrows.
"Ok. Well. Sure it sucks. Like, yeh, my dad just died. Am I fazed? Yeh, it would be concerning if I weren't. But have I already spent the past 6 months locked in a dark hole crying accepting that life can be a little shitty? Yeh. I've cried, I've mourned and now I'm over it."
"You're over it?" Amanda looked at her in disbelief.
"I know what you're thinking. Utter pyscho. She must be on drugs?!? But I'm not. I'm completely sane." Aurora let out an uneasy chuckle. "Yes it's sad and I was upset and sure it still hurts a little. But he was hardly around when I was a child and when he was around he pyschologically damaged me beyond repair. In a way, it's easier to love him now that he can no longer remind me why I hate him."
"That makes more sense. The explanation was needed."

Nathan was buried in paperwork when Aurora strolled into his office.
Glancing up, his eyes softened, "how was it?" His tone was soft and gentle, and although Aurora knew he meant it to be kind she couldn't help but feel patronised.
"Fan-dabi-dosi!" Aurora fell onto the sofa across from Nathan's desk.
"Do you want to talk? We could-"
"I want to sleep. So shut up s'il vous plait." Aurora held a cushion to her stomach, kicking her shoes off and closing her eyes.
"Okay then" Nathan sighed before resuming his paperwork.
After a few moments Aurora opened her eyes again. She watched Nathan work, the way his shirt clung to his arms, the way his posture dominated the room and soon her mind had wondered off onto over activities rather than sleeping.
Standing up, Aurora walked over to Nathan and leant over his shoulder. "Whatcha doing?"
Nathan remained unbothered, his hand resting above the document he was signing, "signing off on shipments."
Aurora moved around him, lifting herself up on to the desk, her legs pressed against his left arm.
Still not looking up, Nathan began to pull his papers into a pile, "I thought you were sleeping."
"I got bored." Aurora was intently gazing at Nathan's hair, restraining her hands from running through his soft curls.
Nathan finally turned to Aurora, his left arm lifting onto her thigh, "do you want me to call Sarah, she can give you a lift home if you-"
Before Nathan could finish Aurora crashed her lips onto his. He soon responded, moving closer to her as she opened her legs and pressed them against his torso.
Her hands quickly found his hair and soon he was standing up, his hands pulling her closer to him, if that were even possible.
Aurora let out a sigh, their lips still not leaving each other as she began to untuck his shirt.
Almost instantly Nathan pulled away. "Aurora, no." He panted slightly, retucking his shirt and straightening his trousers.
"What?" Aurora took a deep breathe, beyond confused. "Why not?"
"I'm not having sex with you when you're... When you're like this."
"Like this? What the hell does that mean?"
