My day at work was decent. I had to be in court early this morning and I had to meet up with four new clients. The last client I had was constantly flirting which kind of annoyed me. I kept politely turning him down but he really didn't get the hint. When he left I had to make a few stops thinking I would have enough time to stop by my place and change before heading over to Jada's party. Of course, I didn't so I just headed over there with what I had on.
Pulling up at the address that Jada gave to me, I was still in my work clothes because I had to visit a client last minute. I found me a parking spot across the street and walked up the packed driveway. She told me that she was only going to invite a few people over but I should have known better. I checked my purse to make sure I put her gift card in my bag before ringing the doorbell to the nice sized house. I turned around and looked at some of the other house; this seems like a great neighborhood, but I also knew that her parents wouldn't let her move into anything less.
The door flung open and I turned around to see Jada's Cousin Amanda standing there. I always liked Amanda, she was a sweetheart but wasn't afraid to tell you like it is. As soon as she realized it was me she pulled me in and wrapped her arms around me so tight. I hadn't seen her since the family got together last year
"Hey girl, how are you" she asked with so much excitement in her voice?
"Hey babe. I'm good how about you?"
"Girl you know me. I'm glad to see you and my cousin are back together. I thought I was going to have to come and hem her up."
"I wouldn't necessarily say that we are together. We just ran into each other yesterday and she invited me here."
"Y'all need to get it together," she said laughing.
"Where is she anyway?"
"She is out back with her dad trying to grill."
"Oh, Lord let me go let her know I'm here."
I walked towards the smell of the smoke and instantly found Jada standing in front of the grill with an apron on that said, 'kiss the cook'. Her dad was standing there beside her laughing. I stood in the door way for a little while admiring her beauty. She had on some camo shorts, a black wife beater on, with some burgundy roshes and her hair up in a messy. How could something so simple look so good on someone? I walked up behind her and planted a small kiss on her cheek causing her and her dad to turn around.
"Hey, what are you guys over here doing?"
"Hey sweetie, Jada calls herself trying to grill but all she is doing is wasting food," Mr. Smith commented laughing.
"Hey babe, I hope you found the place alright. I'm not wasting food pops; everybody loves their burgers with a little burn to it."
"Sweetie no one wants an extra crispy burger," I said no laughing with them.
"Whatever, ya'll are just hating."
"Whatever you say Jada. Can I talk to you for a minute please?"
"Sure, follow me," she said handing the spatula to her dad and grabbing my hand.
We walked back towards the house stopping to speak to people I hadn't seen when I walked in. We walked into the house and headed up the stairs I looked around the entire time admiring every room. I noticed some of the paintings she had hanging on the walls and I was very surprised to see that she even had a few pictures of us out. She opened a door to a room and turned the light on before allowing me to walk in. She came in behind me and closed the door. I looked around the spacious bedroom. I figured it was the master because I looked around and saw shoes and dirty clothes on the floor.
