"Anjali?" I heard Arjun's voice. I was too shocked. Why is he here and when he came here? Did he hear our conversation? Did he hear that I am about to marry their son?
Wait.. Why am I worrying about whether he heard about the marriage or not. Now I am supposed to worry about how to explain about him to my uncle and aunt.
"Arjun" I wanted to say aloud but it came more like a whisper.
"Urmm sorry. You left your purse in my car so I came back to give it to you," he said. 'Why Arjun? Cant you wait until they left? Now I have to answer their stupid questions' I thought to myself.
"Anjali who is this boy?" Aunt ask acting to be polite when in real she was being scared that I will tell that is my boyfriend.
"Enough aunty, He is my friend. Please I will call you guys later. So now please" I pointed my hand towards the door. And, they actually left. Wow I didn't expect it to be this easy. Okay now I have to answer Sid's question but it was easy as he is not very complicated. I invited Arjun inside as soon as my uncle and aunt left. But the expression on his face was very complicated.
"Arjun, do you want anything to drink?" I asked to break the awkward silence.
"No it's fine. I just came to give your purse. I have a meeting to attend so I'll get going first," with that he got up and left without waiting for my reply.
"So Anjali who is he?" now its Sid, smiling sheepishly.
"Please get that reaction off your face dude. I told you he is my friend," I said.
"Friend? Doesn't look like thaaat. How he have your purse. Were you with him all night?" he asked and I had no choice but to tell him everything from the moment I met him to him dropping me home just now.
"He was all fine when he dropped me but just now his face was very weird," I finished.
"Anjali!!!! I cant believe you are this stupid. It is obvious that he loves you. Probably, he heard that you are engaged. That's why his expression was ugly. He does seem like a good boy. Someone who did not take advantage of a beautiful girl like you when you were drunk, shows that he is good," he said.
"Ohh finally you agreed that I am beautiful," I said with a proud expression trying to change the topic but he was too smart to find that.
"Come on Anjali. Stop joking. Now tell me, you like him?" he ask and I look away from him trying to avoid his question.
"I don't know what I feel Sid. You know how I am. I have never trust anyone else other than you after my parents and brother passed away. But, he felt like someone close to me. Something that made me trust him. To the point that I didn't slap him even when he lied to me about having sex. Something inside me told me he is not that kind of a man. But, I think its not love all. I just felt that I found another trustworthy friend. That's it. Stop getting your imagination wild," I said and went to the kitchen.
"Anjali.... I know you have your plans to get away from your uncle and his son. But I want you to marry the love of your life. I want you to love someone and get married to that person. Just like anyone else. I don't want you to waste your life marrying Raghav even though its kind of 'teaching them a lesson' type of marriage. I want you to be happy okay? Just consider Arjun," he said.
I hugged him tight, "Sid, I know you care about me but I can't be happy. I don't need a husband. I cannot make anyone happy when I myself is not happy. After what happened to me 4 years ago, I am still trapped in that. You know I am really not as happy as I seem. My life is over. Marriage means commitment, and with the way my life is going, I definitely cannot commit to anything or anyone. The only type of marriage I can have is the 'teach them a lesson' kind of marriage. I don't really want to talk about this. Want coffee?" I asked him changing the topic.

"Mam, we have a meeting arranged with the client that you went to negotiate that day. He said he is investing a billion in this project so he needed assurance. He wanted to pay a visit to our office and meet the staff including you," Keerthi said.
"I really have to be in the meeting? Like Arjun asked specifically?" I asked her.
"Yes mam, Mr.Arjun asked for you to attend it," she said.
"Okay" I said hesitantly. After hearing what Sid said, I really feel I have to reduce my contact with Arjun. I'm scared he will ask me about Raghav and I am nervous about that. What I do answer him. Okay wait, why am I reacting like a girlfriend who cheated her boyfriend by hiding the fact that I am engaged?
He is just friend and he shouldn't be upset that I am engaged. Okay that's it. Sid was just blabbering.
"What time is the meeting?" I asked Keerthi and she shot me confuse look. "Mam all I said after that? You didn't hear?" she asked.
"You said something after that?" I asked her and she sighed.
"7pm mam, the meeting is 7pm tonight. I will email you your schedule for tomorrow okay?" she said and left my office. I went back to work. Soon the clock hit 6 and I got ready for the meeting. Even though Arjun coming 7pm, the meeting will begin 6. To discuss the 'behaviour' of the staff in front of the client.
"Good evening, Mam" everyone greeted.
"Good evening, so today we have a very important client visiting our office. So, I am sorry that you all have to work overtime today. I will add some bonus for all those involved in this project end of this month if the project is a success. Be at your best behaviour today. I know its really stressful but work on it okay?" I said sensing everyone's stress face.
I just smile to assure them. After a while of briefing Keerthi informed me that Arjun was here. Unlike like our first meeting, he had a bunch of bodyguards with him and also some office staff.
