Chapter 3

"Sure Mr.Arjun. Let's get straight to business." I said taking a seat after him. As I was the host, I had to be polite because of two reasons. One, this business deal is very important for the company. Two, the mistake was from my side. I hate to make mistake because I'll have to work to repent it. But guess tonight I'll have to do what I hate the most.

Just as I seat the waiters started bringing the dishes. "Wow, I wonder where your etiquette went wrong. I mean is this your first time handling something like this Ms.Anjali? I have never seen a host ordering food for guest without their concern. I mean I am impressed." He said sarcastically. For a moment I forgot all the business deal and wanted to shout telling him to stuff his sarcasm in his ass.

But I controlled myself and said softly, "Mr.Arjun, first don't question my professionalisme just because I am a woman. Second, think before speaking. Third, wait until the end before you criticize . And last but not least, DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE ME!!" I said emphasizing the last.

Just then, all the dishes I ordered completely served. I looked at his face to find that he look flabbergasted. One, because he didn't expect me to be so intimidating. I mean he didn't expect a woman can talk like that. Second, he was probably wondering how I found that he loves seafood, because all the food I ordered was his favorites.

"I am sorry Ms.Anjali. I didn't meant to be judgemental here. But I was just irritated that you made me wait. I didn't meant to underestimate you" he said seconds later after recovering from the shock. 

But, the way he said that showed that he didn't mean the apology. 

"Sure, let's start eating," I said and he nodded. We both get onto business, I meant eating.

"So," I started as soon as we finish eating. "Mr.Arjun, first of all I would like to apologize for not being able to present on time. It is my fault that I was not there to supervise on things. I just hope you can forget that simple mistake and gives us a second chance. I am sure we will prove to you that you made the correct decision investing in our project," I said and he looked surprise for a second before his face turns to his usual blank face.

"I don't understand how you are going to prove it. I mean, when I first got your proposal, I decided to give it a go, considering you as a young CEO have achieved many great things for your age. But, I must say I was very disappointed with the way you work. If you considered us important, your staff wouldn't have lost her presentation," he said.

"I am truly sorry Mr.Arjun. This has never happened before. And I can assure you, this will never happen again," I said and he nodded. I can see that he truly doesn't seem convinced.

"Mr.Arjun, as you said, I have achieved many things for my age. Not to brag or something, but you can definitely see my capabilities in that. This project in one of the biggest project we have ever done. For your company, with your many years of being in industry, I am sure you have seen many big investment like this. One thing, I can promise you is this is going to be one of your best projects you have invested on," I said.

"This project is going to hold a great value when it is finished. I am sure you will regret late if you don't accept this now," I smiled to make it look like I am joking.

"Very confident I see. What makes you think that I am going to regret?" he asked me, his voice cold. But, I have learnt not to be intimidated my men, if I am going to survive in this industry. 

"Simple, I trust my instincts. If not, I wouldn't have been working on this project for more than three months personally," I said.

"One should learn not to trust their instincts all the time, Ms.Anjali," the way he said my name, sent shivers down my spine. But, I tried not to show it on my face and continued with a confident face.

"But, I have learnt to work my instincts because, it always work," I said.

"And, what does your instincts say now?" he asked me.

"That you will definitely not want to miss this opportunity," I smirked. His lips curved ever so slightly, making me doubt whether it was a smile. His face still didn't show any emotions and I couldn't decide whether it was a success or not.

"Hope we will meet soon Ms.Anjali" he said with a smirk and I didn't understand the meaning behind his words that time.

"Alright, thank you for your time," I said and left the private room.

Just as I was about to leave from the restaurant, I got a call from hospital. "Ms.Anjali, we called to inform that Karan is all conscious now." The sister said after I said hello. I rushed to the hospital despite being so tired. As I entered the the ward where Karan was, I saw him starring at the white ceiling thinking about something.

 I softly called out his name and he turned to see me. His eyes opened the tap of tears and he started crying. "Karan listen, you need to rest now. Don't stress yourself. Relax and take rest." I started panicking because he was not stop crying. After a while of pouring out, he stopped crying. "Akka, you gave me a beautiful life. You brought me out of a hell and gave me a place at heaven. But, look at me akka. All I do is to give you a hard time. I am sorry akka." He pleaded.

"Karan it is not your fault. I talked with your psychiatrist and he told me that when you need drug, you will go to any length to get it. It was not your fault Karan. I know sometimes it's difficult to change your habits but you have to try Karan. Especially when you know, your habit will only bring harm to you and people around you. You can do it Karan. You can continue stay at heaven. It is just unexpected that you got into an accident this time. It is fine that you are alright now but imagine if something were to happen to you. How do you think we would feel? How do you think I would feel like? Do you know how scared I felt to see you in that state? Just remember all this the next time you think about taking drugs okay?" I tried to advised him a little. After talking for a while he drifted off to sleep, actually me talking and he crying.

I left to my house too. I was exhausted and the moment I stepped into my room, I slipped into the bed to sleep. And sleep slowly engulfed me. Normally, I would never fall asleep this soon. I would take time, because my mind will never give me time to sleep. I have habit of overthinking when I am alone. But, today I guess I was too tired to even think.

The next morning, I woke up and went to office. Just as I entered my office, Keerthi came running to me. 

"Mam, one good news. The client just called to inform that he will be taking up the deal" she said excitedly and I was shocked to death.

"Which client?" I asked, half asleep.

"The one you met yesterday, Mam," she said  and my sleep was gone now. My eyes widened at the news and I was confused whether I heard it wrong.

 "Did I hear it correct? He accepted the deal?" I could not believe my own ears. "Yes mam. He said that only because of you he accepted the deal and warned us not to repeat the mistake again" she continued.

I didn't expect seafood to have this effect on him. Just because seafood, he accepted a billion worth of deal? It can't be true, can it?

So here is Chapter 3. I hope you can forgive me for any mistakes found here and correct me when needed. Thanks for your support. Despite being the first time writing a story, I hope I can satisfy you guys with this.
