The following days were filled with one function after the other and finally the day came everyone was waiting for, at the grounds of Vadhera mansion, a beautiful stage was set where the couple got married and were pronounced husband and wife as the world watched. The two stayed in Chandigarh that night as Mami and Anjali flew back to Delhi to organise the welcome ceremony of the new daughter in law of the house.
Mami lived to her promise after the confrontation with Arnav and she became like a mother to both Payal and Khushi. She was so proud of her girls and when she learnt that Payal was pregnant, she became the happiest grandma to be ever. Sheetal and her mother were history and neither were they invited for the wedding. Though they wanted to attend it to boost their social standing—who wouldn't want to attend a Vadhera-Raizada wedding—they were not allowed anywhere near Khushi by Arnav. The fact that Khushi turned out to be a Vadhera was another slap to Sheetal. The girl she looked down upon was in fact better than her in both social standing and in person. She had the money and she had Arnav. She had beauty and she had the brains. She had compassion and she had the heart of gold, everything which she could never have, Khushi possessed.
As for Mahi, Khushi got to know everything but it took some time for Arnav to mellow. Mahi had really disappointed him. He had put his trust in a stranger, treated her as someone dear who turned out to be nothing but a back stabber. A month ago she was given an interview at Sheesh Mahal, Arnav's Ancestral Seven star hotel in Lucknow and she was appointed as the Food and beverage Assistant Manager. She was under probation of course but could she take that chance for granted? Never. She had to win ASR's trust and prove to everyone in the Raizada household that she really was sorry and could be trusted again. HP was forever grateful to his younger mistress who treated him less than a father, he knew it was because of Khushi his daughter had been given a second chance.
'Welcome home Mrs Arnav Singh Raizada.' Arnav said once in their room after completing other sets of Raizada rituals to his relief.
'I'm happy to be back home.'
'And I'm glad to hear that. Let me welcome you my own style. The bed is beckoning us.'
'The pleasure is all mine dear hubby.'
'The pleasure will be ours.'
********************Five years later******************
The sound of a baby crying brought huge smiles on the faces of the people who were outside the maternity ward. It was the largest number by far to wait outside a maternity room and it was not only family members but the who's and who of the business world, including the minister of health who had come to be a part of the Varushka Hospital Inauguration ceremony.
Since it was the inauguration of Varushka Hospital, a heavily pregnant Khushi had insisted to inaugurate her hospital as per plans siting that once the baby arrives she won't have the time. According to her dates, she still had two weeks to go but baby Raizada chose to be part of the family and inaugurate the maternity ward and the hospital itself as it became the first child to be born there.
A beaming Arnav came out holding his baby, a smile reaching the ears. It was a boy, Khushi was right all along. She always wanted a boy first who would look like his father.
'Dadu, Nani, your great grandson is here. Ma, Mami our Arush, your grandson.'
Dadu took the little guy and blessed him. 'My first great-grandson, your sisters will be happy to meet you. Devyani ji, aren't we blessed to witness this?'
Virat and Viren had been blessed with baby girls and so did Aman and Anjali as well as Payal and Akash. Everyone had joked saying that Khushi will have a girl too but she had remained adamant that it will be junior Laad governor.
'We indeed are. He is impatient like his father. Couldn't wait for two weeks Aru?' Nani patted his head with a smile.
The part continued outside while the new father gathered his family in his arms. Khushi had just woken up to feed her hungry baby who was now sleeping in his little hospital cot bed beside her.
'Thank you Khushi. He is perfect, just like you.'
'Does he really look like me?'
'Uhm, he keeps changing. One minute I see myself the next it's you and then its Virat or Viren very strange hai na? I'm afraid next I'll see Dadu's moustache.'
Khushi laughed at her husband. He had changed a lot in the past seven years she had known him and for the good. Although he was still ASR to the world, he was no longer cold but warm to people and a smile could be seen now and then to his employees and public.
'I should thank you, you gave me my son, and next it will be your daughter, I promise.'
'I don't care, be it a girl or boy as long as it's our child I'll be happy.'
'So will I. I love you.'
'I love you more. Rest while our son is sleeping or you won't get the chance. I will look after him.'
'Yeah, he is very demanding, like his dad.'
'And vocal like you. See, now you have two hot headed men in your life but don't worry we love you lots and we will learn to share you.' A proud father said as he kissed a sleep drugged Khushi and held her in his arms with a content smile. His world was perfect.
