What's Me Without You? ** ON HOLD**

Old Friends

"You are such a cheater!" Jake says with a mouth full of pizza.

"Am not! I won fair and square!" I say before taking a drink of my soda.

"Did not!" He argues.

"Ahh, it's good to have you two back. You sound like five year olds," Billy says from the doorway.

"Haven't we always?" I ask. Billy gives me a look that says 'True, but I'm glad you two made up' and I laugh.

All of the sudden, a howl sounds through the dark night outside. Jake and I glance at each other before dropping everything, and taking off out the door.

Jake: [What now?]

Sam: [Just follow Paul!]

I'm faster than Jake, so I pick up Paul's scent within seconds, and speed off on the trail.

I find Paul, Embry, Quil, and Leah at the border. Paul is growling at Emmett Cullen. I personally am not a big fan on the Cullen's, so I jump down and join Paul.

Sam and Jake finally start yelling at us, and Emmett walks away. I give Sam a dirty look, and walk over to Jake.

Sam: [You two can't just be picking fights with the Cullen's.] He uses his alpha voice on us.

Me: [Yeah, I know.]

Seth: [And don't forget the treaty!] Paul shoots him a nasty look, and Seth falls back in intimidation.

Me: [That's exactly why their heads aren't lying on the ground in front of me right now!]

I take off running away from them.

Jake: [Alex!]

Sam: [Leave her be.]

I run as far away from them as I can, before I phase back.

I stomp my way to Emily's house and get in my car. I calm down on the drive home. I pull the keys out of the ignition and walk inside.

"Alex?" I hear dad ask as I close the door.

"Yeah, it's me," I say, "Where's Bella?"

"Florida. Visiting your mother," he says, not taking his eyes off of the TV screen.

"When did she leave?" I sit down next to him on the couch.

"Last night, after you went to bed," he says.

"When will she be back?" I ask.

"Sunday afternoon," he says. It's Thurday now, and Sam told me to go to school tomorrow. To see how I handle it.

I stand up and make my way to the stairs, "I'm going to bed. Goodnight!"

"Night!" Charlie says before switching the TV off and walking to his room. I make my way up to my room.

God! What stinks?!

I realize what it is, run to Bella's room and smell. I whip out my phone and dial the first number that comes to mind.

"Hey Alex, what's up?" Jake answers.

"Jake, get over here. Now!" I say.

'What? Why?" he asks.

"Don't ask questions. Get Sam and come out here!" I say before hanging up.

 I stick my phone in my pocket, and pace in the hallway. I run quietly down the stairs when I hear Jake's Rabbit pull up outside. I throw open the door, just as Jake pulls me into a hug that would probably kill any human.

"What happened?" Sam asks.

"Upstairs. Someone was here. A leech," I say. He quickly and quietly makes his way up the stairs.

"You alright?" Jake asks.

"I'm fine, but I want to know who it was," I say before following Sam up the stairs.
