❝ In Squad We Trust! ❞
It was now time for Ruby's highly anticipated party. He and Jamal were at his house setting the place up. Jamal placed some snacks and drinks on the table as Ruby prepared the music. When they were done, they plopped down on the couch with their backs facing each other and exhaled.
"You think this is going to work?" Ruby asked as he looked over his shoulder.
"I do and I'm excited," Jamal responded as he also looked over his shoulder.
Ruby checked the time. "They should be here any minute." Right on cue, there was a knock at the door. "There they go."
Jamal took the initiative to open the door. On the other side stood Dave and Isabella. Dave was clad in a regular black tee with some jeans, while Isabella wore a very revealing pink dress to Ruby's pleasure.
His eyes were glued on to her. He told her to look sexy, but damn, she was on some next level sexy.
Ruby quickly closed his dropped jaw, praying that he didn't drool. He reminded himself that he and Isabella were just friends, nothing more.
"About time you guys got here!" Jamal said as he let them in.
"Oh please, you said nine. It's nine," Isabella replied sassily.
Dave looked around Ruby's house as he spoke. He was pleased with what he saw. "Where are the clothes?"
Everyone exchanged an unsure look. Ruby placed his hands on his head. "Oh my god. Where the hell is Monse?!"
"UGHHHHHH!" Jamal groaned and turned on his heels to leave the room to call Monse.
Dave looked at his phone. "We have thirty minutes until the guests start arriving. What do we do now?"
"How about you just make yourself at home until Monse comes with Cesar's clothes?" Ruby suggested. Dave shrugged and walked off.
Isabella and Ruby were now alone, standing across from each other. Isabella took a step forward and touched his shirt. "Well hello, Ruby. You look nice."
Ruby gazed at her dress again. "You look stunning."
Isabella blushed and twirled her hair in her finger. "Thank you. You told me to look sexy, so I tried my best."
"You don't have to try. You're a natural."
Isabella beamed and leaned in closer. She spoke flirtingly. "That means a lot coming from you, handsome."
Ruby swallowed hard as he stared at her lips. He wanted to give in to his temptation and kiss her, but he couldn't. They were just friends. But no matter how many times he repeated those words in his head, he knew it was going to take him a while to see her as truly just a friend.
