Waking up to being alone in my room, I felt like the world was pushing me down, and it hurt in my chest. I had to go, I knew I had to, but I was uncertain about whether I'd make it back alive or not. I slowly sat up and the pressure seemed to lift, but it still hurt. My old injuries are still healing, but I can't just lay around. At this point, the clan's life depends on me. I sighed as I changed into the armor I specially designed for battle, which was black blue and purple, decorated with wolves running around my waist and two dragons resting on my shoulders. The shoulders were pointed just enough to lift above the sleeve, which gave it a more ninja-like appearance. There were metal-plated covering my chest, back, and stomach under the cloth, for protection. I slipped on all my weapons and tied the katana to my waist. Tying my mask around my head, I quietly ran down the hall.
As I passed Tyler's room, I looked inside to see him sound asleep. I reached into my pocket and unfolded a note I wrote before we had that discussion outside. I laid it on the nightstand beside the candle, and the words on the note were perfectly visible. I pulled the mask down enough to gently kiss him on the temple, then I pulled the mask back into place.
My Dearest Tyler,
I hate to have to do this, but I'm going alone for now. I do understand why you worry so much because I would too if our places were switched, but I have to do this. I refuse to put you, May, or anyone else's life in danger. This is my fight now, because I'm finishing this feudal war. Know that I love you, and I will call for you if I need your help out on that battlefield.
You are my life, so if you were to get hurt or worse, I doubt I'd be able to look at you ever again with true joy. I just want you to live happily, whether that means we'll be together or not. May you be safe, happy, and healthy, and pray that I make it back to you if I don't call for you.
From your dearest girl, Mikaela Honshu
I took off out the window and ran for the streets. Looking up at the moon as its light reflected in my white hair. "If my timing is right, I'll get there on the day of the full moon. Okay, Kai Kitsune, time to taste your own blood!" I said as I reached the stables and jumped on my horse. She whinnied as I urged her forward, galloping into the night.
