I forced my eyes open when I felt something strange. "Mikaela!" May's voice called out as my vision cleared to reveal her face. "May...? What are you.... What in the world are you doing here!?" I asked as I sat up. "You did call for help, didn't you?" She asked as she helped me up to my feet. "I called for Tyler, not you!" I said as we hugged, then I could feel my warm blood sliding down my waist onto my legs.
I groaned as the pain finally kicked in, my legs giving into the fatigue that soon followed. "Easy, Mikaela. If you keep this up, you're going to die." May said as she set me down. "W-Where's.....Tyler?" I asked as I looked around. "He told me to track you down and that he'd catch up. Kitsune can't move right now." She said as she pointed to the other side of the clearing, where the man was stuck on a tree by a small sword through the foot.
"Good..." I said as I forced myself to stand. "So....what now? You gonna...........kill me? Get your precious revenge? Your mother.....wouldn't want you....to become a killer now, would she?" He asked as he smirked my way, blood dripping from the corners of his lips. "At least when I kill, it saves.........many more lives." I said as I picked up the Kihaku Katana. I used all the will power I could muster to ignore the pain as I lunged at him, unleashing my best battle howl as I plunged the sword through his chest. I could feel his heart explode from the force of the blow as he screamed in intense agony.
"Your era.......is over.......Kai Kitsune the 4th." I said as I pulled the sword out. He growled through clenched teeth, blood flowing out of his mouth and chest like waterfalls, until his body fell to the ground, lifeless. I felt a sense of guilt, having killed a person for the first time. I was always told that all life has value, and taking a life is not highly looked upon. It did feel good, however, because I know that I saved the world from an evil reign of tyranny and greed.
"You......did it." May said as I sheathed the katana. "I saved us.........from one tyrant." I said as I let go of the katana, only for my body to give in to the fatigue once again. This time, I felt dizzy and a deep cold penetrated my bones. "Mikalea!" May cried as I fell, only to end up in a pair of arms that were muscular. "Mikaela..." Tyler's voice echoed around me as I was slowly rolled around until I was looking into the eyes of Tyler. "Tyler........I'm so.....sorry. It's over now." I said as we looked at his father's dead body. "It doesn't matter anymore. Now, let's get you to a healer or something before I lose you." He said as he lifted me up, carefully getting up in an effort to not drop me. "Hang on, Mikaela. We have a bright future ahead of us." Tyler whispered in my ear as we headed for the trees. We have a bright future ahead.
