"Mikaela?" May's voice echoed around me as I could feel my body at last. I felt really weak, but I was definitely back in my body. I opened my eyes as much as my lacking strength allowed, to see her smile. "May...." I whispered as she walked to my side. "Hey, girl. Welcome back to the world of the living. You gave us all quite a scare there." She said as she grabbed a cloth from a bowl of water.
"Sorry." I muttered faintly as she wrung out the cloth and gently dabbed my forehead with it. It felt cool and comforting, then I realized I had a fever when she lifted the cloth, removing the coolness and replacing it with a major blast of heat. I felt like I could barely breathe, my body was so heavy. "Don't strain yourself, Mikaela. You need time to rest and heal yet." She said as she repeated her actions, but laid the cloth over my forehead. "Where's Tyler?" I asked as the coolness swarmed my senses again.
"He's looking for some herbal plants for me. Not all known remedies can help you, so I'm going to mix up something new. I've used this remedy for many major wounds before, so I know it works." She said before lifting the blanket to check my wounds. I looked and was horrified to see that my waist was nearly malformed. "Don't worry too much, Mikaela. I've seen much worse before I came to train here." May said as she grabbed another cloth and began to clean my waist. The water on this cloth was warm, but it stung slightly, so I assumed that some special ointment or herbal mixture was added.
"Mikaela!" Tyler's voice rang as I let my head hit the pillow, only to look toward the door to see the love of my life standing there with a basket filled with of some sort of herb. He set it down and kissed me as tears flooded his eyes. "I'm okay, Tyler, I'm okay." I said with a smile after he pulled back, gently cupping his face in the palm of my hand and stroking away his tears as he smiled at me. We shared one more kiss as May started making her strange remedy.
"I'm going to take you somewhere as soon as you're healthy again, my love." He said as he raked my hair comfortingly. "I look forward to it, sweetheart. I'm sorry if I scared you." I said as he kissed my forehead. "It's okay. I would've done the same thing if I were in your shoes." He said as May started applying her remedy. "Speaking of which, what happened? The last thing I recall was you carrying me." I said as the paste made my spine arch slightly due to the violent shiver. "You blacked out around the time we left the forest. We brought you here, and you've been unconscious for about two weeks." He said as the slight ache I felt in my waist began to fade. "Well, at least we're still together." I said as the pain faded. "That we are, Mikaela. That we are." Tyler said before kissing me again.
