| CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO |
PLACE YOUR HAND ON MY WAIST.
"THE YULE BALL HAS BEEN a tradition of the Triwizard Tournament since its inception," Professor McGonagall explained to Gryffindor house. Years four and above were all seated on either side of the hall; the girls on the rights, the boys on the left, "On Christmas Eve night, our guests gather in the Great Hall for well mannered frivolity. As the representatives of the host school, I expect each and every one of you to put your best foot forward, and I mean this literally because the Yule Ball is, first and foremost...a dance."
Almost of the the boys let out annoyed groans, some of them even sunk down into their seats. Whilst the majority of the girls looked over the moon with the sudden announcement as they whispered between one another. Hazel didn't show much emotions, yet, deep down, she was strangely excited about the dance.
"Silence," McGonagall ordered, "The house of Godrick Gryffindor has commanded the respect of the wizard world for nearly ten centuries. I will not have you, in the course of a single evening, besmirching that name by behaving like a babbling, bumbling band of baboons," Hazel snorted, "Now..." McGonagall continued, sending Hazel a quick pointed look that caused her to quietened down, "To dance is to let the body breathe. Inside every girl, a secret swan slumbers, longing to burst forth and take flight," She said, glancing at the girls before her head snapped to the boys side of the room, "Inside every boy, a lordly lion prepares to prance. Mr. Weasley, will you join me."
She didn't even let Ron answer as she grabbed his hand, pulling him up off his seat. Hazel couldn't help but laugh at the embarrassed look on Ron's face, and it seemed like Ginny couldn't take it either; she howled with laughter, tilting and almost falling onto Hazel.
"Now, place your hand on my waist," Professor McGonagall said casually.
Hazel wolf-whistled at the blushing ginger haired boy, who; of course, sent her a hateful glare before McGonagall snapped her fingers, grabbing his attention once again, "Where?" He asked.
McGonagall sighed, "My waist."
Ron gulped before doing what he was told.
"Now bend your arm," She told him as she helped him bend his arm into the right shape, "Mr. Filch..." She glanced over her shoulder to look at the caretaker, who turned on the music.
The room filled with laughter as McGonagall counted the steps, whilst Ron looked more embarrassed than ever before. Hazel felt her stomach tightening from her laughter, she never expected to see Ron dancing let alone with their head of house.
"Everybody come together," Professor McGonagall instructed.
Immediately, the girls jumped to their feet. Well, almost all of the apart from two; Hazel and Ginny slumped down further into their seats as the boys did the exact same thing on the other side of the room.
"Boys, on your feet," McGonagall ordered, "Miss Lupin and Miss Weasley, you two as well."
"This is going to be so humiliating," Ginny muttered under her breath.
"Isn't it just," Hazel nodded. She was really looking forward to going back home for Christmas, and as much as she liked the idea of a dance, she preferred to spend the time with her dad and granddad. Before the brunette had a chance to stand up, a large hand thrusted into her face. Glancing up, she spotted her favourite ginger haired boy standing in front of her, a wide grin spread across his face.
"Would you do me the pleasure of joining me on the dance floor, my lady?"
Hazel couldn't help but chuckle, "I suppose I can," She said, a wide grin on her face as she placed her palm into his and stood up, ignoring the wolf-whistles Ginny sent them, "I'm a terrible dancer, by the way," She added as George led her to a less crowded part of the room.
"I'll let you in on a little secret," He said as he turned to face his girlfriend, "So am I."
Hazel chuckled, a permanent grin on her face, "Well, let's make fools out of ourselves then."
