Author's Note: My chapters are going to be shorter than usual so I can keep a more consistent schedule with this ONC. I didn't do anything consistently the past two times. Hope you're okay with that.

Lazarus is lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound. Jesus, the paramedic, is doing chest compressions on him.

"1, 2, 3, 4, 5..."

The other paramedic shocks Lazarus with paddles when Jesus is clear. Jesus begins chest compressions again.

"1, 2, 3, 4, 5..."

"It's been 4 minutes Jesus. He's gone."

"No."

Jesus does chest compressions again.

"1, 2, 3, 4, 5..."

Lazarus suddenly breathes again, revived.

"You're all right detective. Everything's going to be all right."

Jesus checks over Lazarus' to make sure he's all right.

Lazarus and Martha, his sister, are eating breakfast together in his apartment.

"It's only been four months."

"We've talked about this sis."

Lazarus uses a cane to stand up and clean up.

"I know. The doctor cleared you to go back to work. You want to go back to work, and there's really no reason why you can't go back to work."

"Exactly."

"Except for the fact that the doctor also said you weren't 100% yet. I've seen it in my own patients many times."

"Which is why my captain is going to put me on desk duty. Only cold cases until I am 100%. I don't imagine I'll be in much danger sitting behind a desk."

"Still, don't you think it makes sense to wait a few more weeks?"

Lazarus walks over to Martha and kisses her on top of her head.

"Martha, I love you but I'm going back to work."

"Don't say I didn't warn you."

Lazarus leaves.
