Lazarus stands on the police side of an interrogation room, staring through the one way glass at who's on the other side. It's your standard viewing room with not much else in the room besides a blackboard with markers to write things on if necessary, a few chairs and a table. In the opposite room, Taylor sits rather calmly looking at the mirror without a care in the world. Elias comes into the police side, joining Lazarus and seeing what he's looking at.
"You don't have to do this you know." Elias declares.
"I think you should make that your slogan or something. Have it printed on your cards when you give it out to them. Maybe it'll stop some crimes before they begin." jokes Lazarus.
Elias looks at him for a moment before responding, "I'm glad to see you got your sense of humor back."
Silence follows for a few moments before Lazarus says, "The man who kidnapped and killed my sister is behind bars and I'm the one who brought him in. Why wouldn't I be in a joking mood?"
"Because you almost didn't?" Elias pushes back, getting a look from Lazarus before, "Maybe you should just stay here while I talk to him?"
"And if he says something that I know is a lie? Better to have me in there then out here. Plus, I don't think he's going to talk to you." Lazarus suggests.
"Why's that?" wonders Elias.
There's a few moments until Lazarus elaborates, "Everything he's done since the moment he and I met, has been about me. He's got some kind of fixation, and if I'm right, it started long before our first meeting."
"You think he's been planning this?" questions Elias, "We haven't found any kind of evidence that he's been talking about you, or the police, or any of the other indicators that he's obsessed. Every online footprint of him has been clean."
Lazarus leans forward and puts his hands on the ledge where the mirror is, staring intently as he speaks, "They must be communicating in some other way."
"They? You think he had help?" Elias says, not entirely sure where Lazarus is going.
"It's the only explanation that makes any sense." insists Lazarus.
"As much as any of that actually makes sense, anyway." Elias pushes back with a slight joking tone, adding"Look, if he's really as obsessed with you as you say, then giving him exactly what he wants isn't what we need to do."
Lazarus finally breaks his focus on Taylor and turns to Elias, "You're right. We need to see what we can get out of him when I'm not around."
"Good, I'll get started then." Elias says, turning to the door and leaving.
After a few seconds, Elias opens the door to the interrogation room and goes inside, sitting down across the table from Taylor. The prisoner barely acknowledges Elias' presence until he sits down across from him, then looking directly at him. Taylor's expression doesn't change throughout it all. The two of them stare at each other silently for awhile.
"I'm guessing I don't have to tell you why you're here." Elias declares rather matter of fact.
Taylor says nothing in response.
"You're in a lot of trouble, you know that."attempts Elias, looking for something.
Again there's no response from Taylor who continues to be very calm.
"The only thing we really need to clear up is why you did it. I mean, you killed your wife and Russ found out about it."
"Don't call him that." Taylor says, somewhat strongly.
"What's that? Don't call who, what?" questions the detective sitting across from him.
"His name is Lazarus." Taylor answers with conviction.
That has Elias watching him for a few moments,"Yes, I know that, but people around here call him Russ."
"And you dishonour him in doing that. You make him lesser than he is." Taylor says, the signs of frustration starting to show.
This makes Lazarus move closer to the glass from his side of the room, curious to see where this is going. Taylor continues to appear frustrated as the questions continue, Elias continuing to bait him.
"And what exactly is he?" wonders Elias.
"He is the saviour."
Elias doesn't say anything for a while, watching to make sure Taylor actually means what he says, "Russ mentioned that you called him that in his apartment before I showed up. What exactly is it that you think he's the saviour of?"
Taylor smiles at the question, "Everyone."
Again Elias waits a few moments to gauge his last response, "Everyone, really? That's a pretty big job for a single detective."
Taylor frowns, "It's sad that you can't see how he's more than that. So much more."
"Well... he might actually agree with you on that but he's always had a big ego. I'm not sure he needs much more of a boost in that regard." jokes Elias, well aware that Lazarus is behind the glass.
"And yet he is the one. He will save us all." Taylor insists.
The door to Lazarus' side of the room opens and Luke comes in. Luke is clearly concerned about something and Lazarus notices immediately.
"Russ, is Morley still in interrogation?" Luke wonders.
"Yup, Elias is in there now with him." says Lazarus.
"Has he been in there the whole time?"
That makes Lazarus curious, "Yeah... why? What's up?"
Luke hesitantly pauses before saying anything, "It's... it's your sister."
"What about her?" Lazarus asks with concern.
"I'm... I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but... she... her... her body... it's gone."
Anger quickly shows itself, "What the hell are you talking about?"
"I... I'm sorry."
Lazarus is about to respond in anger to his colleague before turning to the mirror and Taylor. He gets visibly more and more angry for a moment, then rushes for the door, shoving Luke out of the way.
"Out of my way."
He forces his way into the other side of interrogation, interrupting the process.
"Where the hell is she?" Lazarus angrily asks, Elias getting up to question it before Lazarus charges Taylor, stopping just short of full on attacking him, "What did you do to her?"
Taylor remains calm, despite the situation he's in, "I don't know what you're talking about."
"Don't give me that. You know exactly what's going on."
"Russ, what are you doing?" Elias questions, trying to catch up.
"My sister. He and whoever is helping her, they stole her body. She's gone."
"What?" an unbelieving Elias declares more for himself than anything else.
