Jeongukk barely make it through his first few classes. He's been thinking a lot lately, and stress, tired, sore, and class does not mix well with it. But he powered through, and now he was in his calculus class. Obviously he was still suffering, but now he was suffering in a class that was an hour before he could go home.
He was silently resting his head in the back of the class. His teacher usually let him do so since he seemed to understand the material during exams, but they had a substitute today. An annoying substitute if you will.
"Hey! you." He pointed to the back of the classroom and of course Jeongukks head was pressed down, and was unable to see him. A normal person would go tap him on the shoulder or something. But apparently this dude was special.
"Jeongukk." He says, and the boys head slowly comes up.
( he asked a classmate what his name was )
"You know.. sleepings gonna get you no where in life." He adds. The comment was quite unnecessary and frankly rude, but jeongukk just let it slide since he was the one sleeping in class after all.
He bows from his seat, a little half-assed but he was trying. "Sorry." He apologizes, but when he looks up the teachers still giving him the same judgy look.
"Sorrys don't get you anywhere in life either, kid. Why don't you answer this question for me on the board since you know everything, huh?"
Jeongukk nods, getting up from his seat. He doesn't bother making eye contact with his classmates because he just wants to get this over with.
The sub writes something on the board, and he moves away to give the brunette the marker. When jeongukk looks, he squints.
what the actual fuck. he didn't remember learning this. but okay.
He approaches it for a bit, scanning the question some more.
So the sub must have taken that action as an 'I don't know what the fuck I'm doing since I'm dumb'. He chuckled, turning to the class.
"See. That's why you pay attention in class. So you don't end up like—
"Here." Jeongukk says, he hands the teacher his pen back.
The substitute blinks, and he turns back to the board to see that he actually had an answer.
He scans the numbers, a shocked look on his face before he turns back to jeongukk who was just patiently waiting to go back to his seat.
"It's incorrect." He states, voice a little shaky. "You would have known if you payed attention."
Jeongukk scoffed under his breath. "right."
"See! Talking back to a teacher too. Kids these days are too disrespectful." But the brunette was too busy trying not to fight this teacher right now.
"I'm sorry." He tried to compose himself, but the guy was not listening.
"You can't just keep saying sorry and expect to—
"Can you explain it then?" A voice asks, everyone's attention turning towards her.
Park Minji.
A 5'4 ball of sass and brains. The junior class president.
"Wh.." he pauses.. "huh?"
"If the problems wrong then can you teach us how you get it right?" She looks at her nails, before looking back up at the sub. "I mean..if you can."
He turns pale, before turning back to the board. He snaps his attention back to Jeongukk. "None of you have any manners—go sit back down."
And if Jeongukk hadn't just had the most time wasting experience of his life, he would have been jumping for joy. As if you'd ever see him literally jump for joy. But he'd be happy.
