Taehyung was still holding his sleeve when someone responded. Jeongguk wishes that it were him, but he was frozen. He didn't even need to acknowledge it. How Taehyung's presence is enough to melt him into a puddle on the floor. But now of all times? Seriously?
In an alternate universe, one where he was even slightly less of a coward, he would have nudged Dohyeon to say something. Maybe even come up with an excuse himself in another one.
However, that wasn't the case. Jeongukk was unfortunately in this reality. Stuck in a situation that he didn't want to happen, but was partially inevitable if he were being honest.
He envied the alternate universe version of himself that was at home right now, eating some pocky in a huge mansion. Hobi would probably be there.
Jeongukk was brought back to reality (his reality, much to his dismay) when Dohyeon spoke up. Bless him.
"Jeongguk—um." He forced words out, although it was becoming painfully obvious that he had nothing of good sense to say. "He—we are—"
"We're his tutors."
Jeongukk blinked in surprise.
"What?"
"Tutors?" Taehyung furrowed his eyebrows.
"No, no—they are not my tutors." His expression changed from surprised to serious rather quickly.
"Yeah, we aren't—"
"We aren't, anymore." Hanbin smiled smugly, pocketing his hands. "We're moving on to more advanced classes—or whatever. Won't have time for it."
Jeongukk wanted to punch Hanbin in the stomach.
"Yeah.."
"Oh." Taehyung nodded, still clutching onto Jeongukks arm. "Well, hello." He grinned. "I'm Taehyung."
...
It was later on in the evening. Jeongukk had said his farewells to his friend, with a thanks for at least trying. Hanbin had slipped away before the boy had the chance to slap the living daylights out of him. And Taehyung, Taehyung was still as pretty to Jeongukk as he usually was. He stood across the room from Jeongukk, packing away some of their used Tupperware. He didn't know what he was thinking of, probably judging him.
But then he was receiving a nudge from the side, and Taehyung was right there next to him. His cinnamon scent instantly hit him and he blinked in surprise.
"Hi, Jeongukkie." Taehyung spoke, head tilted up and lashes fluttering really prettily.
Jeongukk nodded. "Hey, Hyung." He packed up his last box before looking back at him. "What's up?"
"Did I embarrass you earlier?" He pursed his lips, hands at his sides. "I understand if you don't want to talk about it—it's just you've been a lot quieter than usual. I mean..you're usually pretty quiet, but I just feel like we—
"Hyung," Jeongukk cut him off softly. Taehyung stopped talking. "It's okay. I'm not embarrassed."
"Oh." Taehyung looked away momentarily. "Okay, good." He smiled. "It's good to have a tutor, you know. Some people let their prides get in the way, which is fine—I was like that too, but it's more important to understand the concep—
"Tae, omg—it's not that deep." Jimin said from behind, dropping his car keys onto the counter.
Taehyung shot him a glare.
"I'm just happy to know that this robot, might not actually be a robot after all." Jimin raised his eyebrows, to which Jeongukk made a face at. Jimin stuck his tongue out in response.
After a long silence, Jimin spoke up again. "Well, Tae..are you ever going to get to the point of what you were saying."
After rolling his eyes, Taehyung went back to face Jeongukk. "I was just going to ask if you still need a tutor."
Jeongukk blinked. "You want to tutor me?"
"Um—yes?" He made a cute face that made Jeongukk want to squish his cheeks together, but he'd save those thoughts for his mind to bring up when he's on the brink of sleep.
"I just—I'm thinking of tutoring people, and I kind of need a little practice with the whole dynamic of it." He nervously chuckles.
"I can tutor you, if you want." He gives Jeongukk a little hopeful smile, and how could he ever say no to that.
"Sure, Hyung." Jeongukk smiles back, stacking the last of the boxes together—preparing them to be carried to the car.
He doesn't miss the happy dance that Taehyung does in a celebratory manner.
However, he also does realize the problem with his situation.
He doesn't actually need a tutor.
