Jeongukk came to the conclusion that the day went—for the most part—pretty smoothly. He was definitely occupied with a ton of different tasks, some requiring an ideal amount of concentration unlike others, and in result he seemed to have no awkward encounters with Taehyung which he considered to be a win-win.
However, it wouldn't change the fact that he would look away immediately when he was present in the room—and they made eye contact for more than three seconds, or how he would blush when their hands briefly touched while he was washing dishes.
But unlike the last few times Taehyung seemed to not notice the way he affected him so largely, looking pretty oblivious to the way Jeongukk was so whipped. So either he really was oblivious or he was getting used to jeongukks awkwardness. But Jeongukks mind also pondered over the possibility that it was neither options and he was starting to really stress over this whole thing. A crush. He was really starting to believe that he had a crush. A pretty large one too.
He hoped everything would blow over soon. He was just infatuated with Taehyung. Taehyung with his long fluttery eyelashes, his wide smile, his overall pretty face, and—jeongukks personal favorite—his big heart. He doesn't think about the fact that having your favorite feature on someone be their heart doesn't sound too much like only having a crush fueled by physical attraction. He doesn't want to.
His hopes should have been diminished when Taehyung gave him a hug before he left and he felt warm. Nothing crazy, he didn't even blush for some odd reason. He just felt happy and paralyzed, like he couldn't move out of his daze. However, he eventually did when Jimin gave him a look from over Taehyungs shoulder that mirrored his previous teasing ones.
The hug didn't last for long after that.
He made sure to let everyone know that'd be be fine going home on his own. The fact that he didn't mention anything about the location of it was a result of the tiniest bit of embarrassment. He knows he probably shouldn't be embarrassed, but he can't help it.
The one who was the most concerned about it was Jimins mother, who he quickly learned strongly supported their club to the fullest of her ability. She was a bit strict and snarky, bossing (mostly Jimin) around constantly when he was slacking or looking lost, almost as if he were pondering what his purpose was. But she was also sweet and considerate, walking around and talking to all the people who came to grab a meal like Taehyung was. Of course she didn't have to, she didn't have to help with any of it. But she still did, and Jeongukk was in awe.
He found himself—for some reason—wondering if she helped Jimin with his homework when he needed help, or packed him lunch throughout his life time.
He wouldn't forget the way she gave him a hug before he left, right after Jimin booty bumped him when he was least expecting it (she whacked him in the arm after that, the slap producing a sound so loud that Jeongukk couldn't help but think wow that sounded like it hurt). She kept asking if he was sure he didn't need a ride home and he had to keep declining, even if she was starting to make him feel strangely guilty. He was about to give in when Jimin whined to her that he was hungry.
They came to the conclusion that the three of them would go eat after that, and Jeongukk had to admit to himself that he was kind of hungry too. But he made up a quick excuse that involved school—he doesn't remember what—and they left him alone after that.
His walk home was oddly satisfying. He felt like something was starting to fit into place, although he wasn't quite aware that he was missing something in the first place.
...
Jeongukk came home to find Hoseok on the kitchen table, eating a box of pocky sticks. He has one in his mouth when he widens his eyes like he's being caught red-handed, "oh sorry, are these yours?" The sound comes out muffled, and jeongukk snickers as he locks the door.
He knows he's the only other person living in the house, it couldn't be anyone else's.
Hoseoks still looking at him guiltily when he comes to pluck one out of the box and pop it in his mouth as well. "It's cool, Hyung."
"Did you buy it with your money?" He asks when the brunette places his duffle and backpack on the ground before plopping down into the chair across from him.
"No, my friend did." He says. Him and Taehyung were friends, right? Probably.
He's analyzing the stick he pulled out, wondering why the layer of chocolate on this specific one was thicker. "We should eat it soon, I don't even know when these things expire."
"Just say that you like this.." He glances down at the label, "po-cky..and want to eat the rest immediately."
Jeongukk laughs at his comment, now deciding to eat the thick layered chocolate piece of the pocky he grabbed. "Yeah," He laughs again, "I like the pocky."
"What the hell does pocky even mean?" Hoseok questions suddenly and Jeongukk raises his eyebrows at his sudden curiosity.
"How would I know?" Jeongukk asks obviously, and Hoseok attempts to flick him in the forehead. He dodges it however, and the two end up laughing to themselves for who knows how long.
It's times like this where Jeongukk thinks that he wouldn't trade everything he's been through for something else. If had nothing besides this, he decides that it'd be okay.
...hola
