Everything seems creepier in the woods. The woods in Fall? Pretty, but seemingly haunted. Even in the middle of the day, being surrounded by the unfamiliar causes unease. But, as luck would have it, it happened to be 11:50 PM... Roughly, there wasn't really anything to check. Usually, Declan was okay with the woods neighboring his side of the city. Just not after running away from two people who tried to jump him. Under weird circumstances, he ended up in the woods, tripped over a moving and alive object and fell backward down a very steep hill. He heard someone muttering about someone being dead and assumed it was him. And the two men just walked away. Thinking that they murdered someone but pretending not to. Cowards. He sat up and held his hand to his head. This was fun. Declan opened his eyes to a calm grey cat on his lap, peering up at him with blue and green eyes. He yelped in surprise, accidentally making the cat jump off his lap as he got up.

To admit, Declan didn't really like animals. Well, reptiles were cool. But he didn't have good experiences with dogs so he preferred to avoid them. Which eventually lead to him avoiding cats as well. He looked down at the cat, who stared back.

Declan blinked and stepped back from the cat in front of him. The cat blinked, tilting his head slightly. He pondered what to do. It was the middle of the night, he was lost in the forest, and a grey cat was following him. Was this normal? It couldn't be... Who knows, going into the forest in the middle of the night because you got scared is also not normal. And the forest was probably more dangerous. He rubbed his temple with a sigh. Declan then crouched down beside the cat and reached out his arm slowly. The cat sniffed his hand licked his wound. He tried not to wince.

"Okay annoying cat, I'm going home. If you bother to follow me I guess I'll feed you or something. My apartment doesn't allow pets so you better be nice to me because goddamnit I'm about to risk my living space." The cat meowed in response and Declan rolled his eyes, ignoring the sting of his black eye.

With that, he found that the cat decided to follow him. He was slightly grateful, knowing that November was ending and it would be too cold for cats to be outside in the night. Declan had not ever owned a cat but he was sure it would be fine. The wind picked up and he hissed, pulling on his hoodie. The cat jumped into his arms and hid in his jacket with him. This was a calculated jump too. Is this smart for a cat? Declan wouldn't exactly know. He held the cat's weight and decided to climb the fire escape into his studio apartment. The cat crawled out of his hoodie and curled up on the bed. Cheeky.

"I'm going to buy you food and litter, so you better know what you're doing." Declan moved to leave out his door but paused. He should probably research first, right? The man sighed and went on his bed. He could probably just steal newspapers for at least the first night or something. Declan scrunched his nose and turned off his phone, not finding anything useful at this time. He settled on just getting the Annoying Cat a water bowl and turning off his lights, not bothering to take care of his wounds or take off his shoes.

The next morning was quiet. He woke up at seven AM to find himself bandages, without his hoodie and shoes. Declan was too tired to notice and just started getting ready for his day. He had a few college classes and had to buy food for Annoying Cat (the honorary name until further notice). After making eggs, he gave most of it to Annoying Cat. "Remember that this window is open if you need to shit or you don't like me anymore!"
