Dear Meggie,
Just today you came back from New York, and you visited me as soon as you could. You saw me, and began to cry. “Oh, Harriett,” you said. “I can’t believe you did this!”
“Not successfully,” I said. “I didn’t even write a will.”
“Oh,” you said. You told me all about your trip to New York. You said you were sorry you didn’t invite me. You said you hope I get out in time for Christmas.
I told you about how we watch all these movies. How they check to make sure you swallow your medication. How you have group five times a day. I’m getting sick of saying, “My name is Harriett, I’m seventeen years old, I’m here for overdose, and my goal for the day is to _________.” I honest to God hate it.
Also, Will never broke up with you. I said, “How is everyone?” You said, “We’re all fine. Will is taking me to dinner again tonight.”
I swear if he breaks up with you there, I’ll just kill myself. Not literally.
Life is pretty uneventful,
Signed Harriett
