Dear Meggie,
The talent show draws nearer, and I don’t think I’m gonna perfect the song in time. Meggie, I’m scared. I might end up even more humiliated than I was before. And I’ll do it in front of everybody.
It’s in a week’s time. I wish you would have informed me sooner. I’m gonna fuck it up. I know I will. Maybe I should just call it off.
Should I?
You and Sarah were having a very important “talk” today at lunch, and Matt decided to practice his running for football, so it was just Will and me.
We ate lunch together, me picking at my food while he tried to quickly eat his. It was pretty uneventful, since he had to cut it short to go practice with the other team members, after getting a call to meet up with Matt at the field.
So I just walked into the woods. And there I saw you, Skeeter, and Sarah. I’ll recap the conversation for you, just to relay your memory.
You: She’s really sweet, Garret. C’mon, please?
Garret: She got me arrested at my own fucking party, Meg. No.
Sarah: Yeah, but… *Sarah grabs his hand and starts to stroke it.* We met there, didn’t we?
You: It’s just so she has a date to go with. I was gonna invite Sarah and you, but you two have plans. If you hate her so much, why’d you invite her?
Garret: Will used to talk about her a lot. I mean, they hit it off-
Sarah: Garret, honey, it’s best not to relay that information at the moment.
You: Will you do it, or not, Garret?
Garret: No. And I mean no. And what’s gonna happen to me after the talent show, huh?
You: *Pulls out two twenties.* There’ll be more where that came from. She’s not gonna fuck it up. I’ve heard her. She’ll be fine, and you can dump her as soon as the play is over. Just say it wasn’t working out.
Garret: I don’t know why you’re so kind to her, after her having your boyfriend around-
Sarah: I said to stop.
You: I know they hung out at lunch together. So what? Not like they kissed. I know her better than you.
Garret: Alright, fine. But I’m dumping her right after.
He was going to tell you everything! And Sarah, somehow, stopped him? Why? Maybe she doesn’t hate me as much as I thought.
I can’t believe you paid off Garret to go out with me, though. Why are you trying so hard to get me to like someone? And why did Garret invite me to his party?
I dunno Meggie. I’m just so confused.
