Dreams

Logan very rarely had dreams. He didn't know why he just didn't. Even when he turned 17, not really anything.

Oh, I should probably backtrack a bit...

In this world, when you turn 17 you and your soulmate can meet inside your dreams once a month. For some it's simple, their soulmate happens to be someone already close to them. They're able to realize their soulmates when they inevitably talk to each other about said dream and figure out it was real and that's that.

For others, it's a bit harder. One could be the kind of person who immediately forgets their dream once their fully awake, and the other someone known to be really over-the-top when it comes to storytelling. So yeah, sometimes finding your soulmate it difficult.

But it's always worth it.

Now, back to Logan. He's been 17 for a couple months and has yet to meet anyone inside this typically dreamless mind.

His parents think it's because maybe his soulmate hasn't turned 17 yet, or maybe his lack of dreams was interfering with something somehow. Either way, Logan didn't mind too much. Who needs to worry about that when the end of junior year was rapidly approaching. Then of course you gotta get into summer courses to prepare for senior year, start applying for colleges, study for finals... you get the idea.

Patton on the other hand, had WILD dreams. There was nothing that couldn't happen within them. From dreaming that you got up for school (when in reality you didn't and now you have five minutes to get ready) to riding unicorns over a sea of ice cream. Both of which had happened before. Anyway, Patton was excited for his 17th birthday. To be able to go into someone else's dreams?! Awesome!

Patton: You think it'll happen tonight?

Patton's Mom: Possibly. You never know, your soulmate might not be 17 yet.

Patton: What if they're already 17?? And they've been waiting all this time?? What if-

Patton's Mom: Now now dear. Everything will be fine. It'll happen within the year, it always does.

Patton sighs, finishes his birthday cake then heads upstairs for bed.

It takes a while, but eventually, sleep pulls him under.

Darkness.

That's all there was.

In all directions, pure darkness.

For Logan, this was normal, as he usually slept in unconsciousness. For Patton however, it was weird. And completely new despite having a wide range of dreams.

Patton: Hello?

Nothing. Not a single sound.

Patton: Helloooo??

Still nothing.

Patton: What is happening?
This time, his voice was followed by an echo. Echo means walls. The faster the echoes are heard, the closer the wall.

So he followed it.

He kept walking forward following the sound of his footsteps as the echoes got closer together until he found a wall.

Everything was still in darkness but there was definitely something here somewhere. Patton ran his hand along the wall, following it until he was met with a door.

The door was white and had a dark blue glow streaming out the bottom. He hesitated at first, then decided that this was, more likely then not, a dream and that nothing too horrible could happen. So he opened it.

Once he stepped through the door frame the blue glow disappeared and he was plunged back into darkness, only this time there was another person a ways away from him.

Patton: Hi.

Logan: I uh- hello.
The usually very put together man was, to put it bluntly, having a gay panic moment. This guy was BEAUTIFUL. With his curly srawberry blonde hair, his freckles dotted across his face, and the smile he was giving him, he decided then and there that he could stare for hours and not get bored.

Patton: I'm Patton!

Logan: Logan...

He tried to pull himself together and forced his eyes away from staring so long, instead turned to look around him.

Logan: Do you have any idea where we are?

Patton: I'm pretty sure we're dreaming.

Logan: Dreaming? Then that means-

"Space unicorns! Soaring through the stars! Delivering the rainbows! All around the world!" Loud music burst through that darkness and the dreamers both jumped.

Patton: That's my alarm, I must be waking up.

Logan: Oh... Well umm...

Patton: I'll see you later Logie.

Patton smiled then vanished as if he was never there. Then Logan opened his eyes to his bedroom ceiling.

He laid there thinking as all the pieces fell into place. That was his soulmate. HIS SOULMATE.

For reasons unknown to Logan, this was more exciting then we he (basicly) singlehandedly led his school's academic team to state finals.

Now Logan welcomed dreams, in hopes to see his blonde-haired angel again.
