Oikawa stood in awe at the flustered girl. This whole time she'd been feeling a sense of awkwardness and something else that she couldn't quite explain— perhaps she'll find out one day.
If he had to take a shot everytime Y/N averted her gaze from her old friend, with the purpose of avoiding his gaze— Tooru would have been dead by now.
But it was fine. He understood why.
Why she was careful of saying certain things. Why she barely spoke throughout their short lived reunion.
Why...?"Y/N," Looking up, her eyes widened slightly at his serious tone. Oikawa had one his hands kept inside one of his pockets while his free hand reached out for her. There was a soft smile plastered on his lips as he leaned in, resting his forehead against her while he cupped her cheek while he closed his eyes, "I miss you."
Slowly opening his beautiful, brown orbs, Oikawa held a gentle smile on his face. Y/N gasped at his beauty in silence but did not do anything to stop his actions. She failed to notice how close their faces were to each other— how was that possible? The tips of their noses would brush against each other ever so often everytime they took their time to gaze into each other's eyes. She never took the time to admire the male's flawless appearance but here we are. His soft, brown locks that swayed in motion with the wind, complimenting his facial structure. How could someone be so... so perfect? There was no blemishes or any form of imperfections of his face. When comparing his own appearance to the young Ushijima, who had faded scars that could barely be seen on parts of her face and limbs, Oikawa Tooru was truly perfect.
There was a comfortable yet alluring silence as both individuals refused to utter a word. They stayed in their position for what seemed to be hours when in reality, it was only mere seconds.
'I don't deserve to be here... To be with Tooru,' The girl frowned, lowering her head, unknowingly resting it against the brunette's chest, 'Not after how I almost ruined his reputation. I could never face him again. So, why does he bother? Maybe— wait, no. He said it himself. He only pitied me. Everything he's doing now is all because he feels pity towards me.'
"Y/N?"
'I should go. I don't want to bother him any longer.'
"Are you still there?"
"Oh— Uh, yes," Escaping her whirlpool of negative thoughts, Y/N placed her hands on the brunette's chest before gently pushing his body away from her, taking a few step backs. Glancing, she could see the shocked expression Oikawa held at her action but she only shook her head, "I... I wanted to ask you a question."
"You can ask me anything."
"I see," She paused, biting her bottom lip due to her hesitation. Would it offend him?
"Why bother?"
"Huh?" Confused, Oikawa tilted his head until the thought came in mind, "Hey-"
"I'm curious. I'm not worth your time— you've agreed on that fact and you've said that I was someone you pitied on. Yet, why do you bother wasting your time with me today?"
"Y/N... All those things I said back then— I wasn't honest," Oikawa averted his gaze to her hand, grasping it in his own and intertwining their fingers, "I know I was an asshole to you ever since that day and I am truly, truly sorry for everything I've done. I was afraid and I was stupid for choosing my reputation over you. I told myself that you'd be my top priority, no matter what happened but— I only hurt you."
Unsure of what to say, Y/N kept quiet, allowing a wave of emotions to hit her.
"Tooru."
"I don't deserve you. That's why I was so desperate when I saw you today," He gritted his teeth before heaving a deep sigh, letting go of her hands and cupping her cheeks, "I want to be with you again. I don't care about those girls, my reputation or anything like that— I'm willing to get rid of everything for you."
"Tooru, you don't have to do that..." Y/N whispered out, placing a hand gently on his face, "It's not worth it. Please, you don't have to let yourself down because you pity me. I don't want you to feel-"
"Y/N?" Oikawa interrupted, his tone was laced with sadness, matching his upset expression, "I don't pity you."
"But you said— that time... Wha— Please, explain. I don't understand."
"That's okay, I'm willing to explain it for you," He smiled sadly, placing a hand over hers— which was still on his cheek, leaning in to her warm touch, "I never meant to say any of those things. I wanted to be with you. That's why... That's why I'm here with you now. You're very dear to me, Y/N. You really are."
"Tooru," Y/N spoke up, her lips curving up— showing a soft smile on her face, "You're very precious to me."
Oikawa's eye widened, a burst of heat spreading across his face as he stumbled back a bit. He was flustered— but by this much? How? "T-then, I want us to be friends again," He stuttered out, "I wanted to be with you and I want to be with you again... Only if you let me. I don't want you to feel pressured because of me."
"I-I..." Y/N fiddled with her fingers, facing away from the male. Oikawa took no offence, a playful smile plastered on his face as he watched her cheeks burn with the red hues, "Um... Tooru, I want to be with you too."
Instantly, she took a few steps beck and bowed, her face completely flustered as she repeated her words once again, "I really want to be with you..!"
"Y/N-Chan, why are you bowing?" The playful tone in Tooru's voice eased her nerves and she could only look up in confusion, ignoring the ruffling he gave her hair, "You know that's not necessary, right?"
"T-then how can I make it up to you?"
"You didn't do anything— there's nothing to make up for." He chuckled, watching as the Ushijima proceeded to stand rather than bowing, "Besides, we did say we wanted to be with each other, right?"
Flustered, the h/c girl nodded slowly, placing her hands her back, her gaze set down on the footpath to avoid letting him see her red face.
"Then that's enough for me."
"I-I see..."
After her response, there was another wave of silence— except this time, it was filled with awkwardness and thank god— it only lasted for a few seconds, "Y/N-Chan, I really missed you."
Before she could utter out a response, she was engulfed in the brunette's pair of arms wrapped around her waist as he pulled her closer to his chest. Blushing madly, she was hesitant— but still proceeded to wrap her arms around Oikawa's neck, going on her tippy toes to reach while burying her face in the crook of his neck.
"Me too."
'I don't deserve him.'

Meanwhile...
"Hey, where's mini-Toshi?" Tendou wondered, trailing behind the elder sibling.
"Tendou, why do you call her that? And she went outside with Oikawa."
"Because she's your little— WHAT?! OIKAWA?! AOBA JOHSAI OIKAWA?" The redhead screeched, stopping dead in his tracks.
Nodding his head, "Yes. They went out to discuss about personal matters."
Gasping, Tendou was shocked, "Personal matters? Are you crazy, Wakatoshi?! They could be dating and you'd never know!"
"I don't believe they are," Ushijima shook his head, "They were apologising to each other."
"Ugh..! She's your younger sister and you don't even worry about Oikawa possibly doing something to her!"
"They knew each other before."
"You're dense."
