Aoba Johsai—18
Shiratorizawa— 21

Despite the slightly large gap between each team's scores, it was obvious the brunette tried his best to ignore the frustration building up as he gave the source of these unknown feelings a look.

"This is for you, Y/N-Chan!" Oikawa winked at Wakatoshi's younger sister flirtatiously as he stuck his tongue, holding a peace sign, "Watch me!"

Tossing the ball up high, Oikawa took a few steps back before rushing in and taking a high leap into the air— his hand perfectly hitting the ball and slamming it on the other side of the court.

The referee blew the whistle, pointing towards Aoba Johsai, indicating that they've earned a point.

Y/N's lips slightly curled up at the public gesture until Coach Washijo gave her a knowing smirk. Taking notice of his expression, she shook her head before proceeding to observe the match.
____

Aoba Johsai: 24
Shiratorizawa: 26

Shiratorizawa had won the match— like in every match they've had against Aoba Johsai. Gritting his teeth, Oikawa clenched his fists tightly in anger and disappointment towards Ushijima Wakatoshi and towards himself. Angry at Ushijima for beating him more than he could count. Disappointed at himself for letting his team down.

"Tooru," Her angelic voice easily snapped him out of his thoughts— though he was still frustrated, "It's not good to keep your emotions bottled up."

"I— How...?" His eyes widened at her observation. The brunette failed to notice his teammates dispersing away from his presence, leaving him and Y/N alone.

"You're easy to read. That's all," She answered, gripping the clip board in hand. Not bothering to respond, Aoba Johsai's team captain brushed past her, grabbing a water bottle and taking a seat on a nearby bench. Y/N watched as he tightly gripped his hair, a look of disappointment visible on his face, just by judging from the ugly frown he wore. Hesitantly, she took a deep breathe before going up to approach him, "Tooru...?"

"Y/N-Chan, just leave me alone." He spoke under his breath in a harsh tone, refusing to even look at her in the eye.

"...But you're upset and I want to help you." The young Ushijima spoke softly, slowly reaching out a hand until—

"Yeah, way to state the obvious, Y/N! I told you to leave me alone— why can't you listen to me? Are you deaf?" He spat out, glaring as he stopped lowering his head to face her, "What can you even do to help me anyway? Tell me that I worked so hard and it wasn't my fault our team lost—!"

"I wasn't going-"

"Shut up! You don't know anything!" Oikawa snapped, standing up from his seat as he towered over Shiratorizawa's manager, "You never do! Why do you think I didn't want anything to do with you back in middle school? Even now, you're still annoying as ever. Don't think for a second that you're actually special just because I talked to you!"

Silence overtook Y/N. Breathing heavily, Oikawa awaited for the girl's response, his fists clenched tightly from his outburst. Silently choking on her saliva, Y/N lowered in head and bowed at the male. There was a grim expression plastered onto her face to which Oikawa failed to notice. She ignored the hurtful pang one her chest, already accepting what had happened because of her. His words felt like a thousand needles piercing her heart but can she do anything about it?

No.

"I-If that's what you believe, then I want to apologise," She averted her gaze towards anything but Tooru as she spoke her words.

"Y/N— No, Ushijima, you know what? I don't care. Just leave me alone."

"I- Okay."

"Mini-Toshi, what happened yesterday? I saw Oikawa yelling at you but I didn't know if he actually was." Tendou sighed, rubbing his temples, awaiting a response.

"Nothing happened. Oikawa was only frustrated at his loss in the practice match. That is all."

"Ah, that makes sense!" Tendou chuckled, snapping his fingers in realisation, "Aoba Johsai never won a match against us!"

"Tendou, can you tell Coach Washijo that I am unable to make it to today's practice?"

"Huh? Sure, but what's up?"

"I'm not feeling well."

"Why do you think I didn't want anything to do with you back in middle school? Even now, you're still annoying as ever. Don't think for a second that you're actually special just because I talked to you!"

His words repeated itself constantly within her mind but she couldn't do anything about it. If he decided he wanted nothing to do with her, Y/N will grant his wishes.

Despite her unimaginable yearning to be with him— Ushijima was unable to express her feelings. Why? There was no one she could trust with them. Sure, she had family but she was unsure. She didn't know how she felt towards the brunette— did she like him? Was that possible?

"No. It is not possible," She whispered to herself, stopping dead in her tracks, "Emotions aren't... I don't need them..."

'He wants nothing to do with me... So why— why did he waste his time with me again? Only for him to say that he dislike me, so why bother?'

Too caught up in her thoughts, Y/N failed to notice the gradual drops of water from the sky as clouds merged together— blocking the sun's light with their darkness. And before she realised it, the sound of thunder rumbled as a strike of lighting follow along which could be seen from a safe distance.

"Rain..?" Letting out a hand, Y/N watched the rain drop on her palm, moistening it after every drop. The grip on her bag loosened, "I can't do anything about this... and the rain."

Instantly, the sound of rain droplets hitting the roof of buildings began to build up slowly until it became a messy sound— complimenting the thunder's roar. Ignoring her current situation, Y/N continued to make her way home; her clothes moist and damp from the rain along with her hair— in which strands of it were stuck on her face. Tired from the long distance she travelled, Y/N leaned against a random wall, using her hand to support her weight.

"Why does everything feel so heavy all of a sudden...?" She murmured, her vision blurring from her tiredness, "I need to..."

Suddenly, the rain had stopped.

'But I can still hear it?'

"Y/N... I'm sorry," Oikawa's voice rung through her ears, causing her to open her eyes at his presence.

"To- Oikawa?" She spoke softly, glancing at the umbrella he held over both of them, blocking the rain from hitting their forms. Almost— she was about to give him an embrace and smile. To tell him she was happy he was here with her but... "W-why are you doing this?"

"Because I wanted to... I saw you walking in the rain so I couldn't just leave you, Y/N."

Pity

It's all just pity.

"You should've just... left me..." Struggling to keep her head up, Y/N used her free hand to support herself as she continued to lean against the wall, her body suddenly feeling heavy and a rush of heat travelling throughout her body.

"Y/N?" His voice called out, a tone of worry in his words.

Pity.

Struggling to utter a word, Y/N's feet wobbled as she tried her best to ignore the brunette and escape his presence.
Only for her to stumble forwards and feeling his arm wrap around her waist.

"Y/N!"

Pity.

"Y-you should... stop-"

And everything became black.
