"A long distance relationship."
Eyes slightly widening, you bit your bottom lip as you tried your best to maintain your composure. But with how guilty and solemn he looked, it was almost impossible to hide it. It came with an overwhelming force, something which brought a big, heavy weight on your shoulders.
"Tooru."
"Y/N, I'm so sorry." Oikawa's voice began to crack, his grip on your hand tightening as he slowly leaned in, resting his face against the crook of your neck. Feeling your lips curve up, you rested you head against his, placing a hand on his soft, brown tuft, stroking it with your fingers while your free hand rested gently on his back— silently comforting him. Though you were against the idea, you knew it had something to do with his passion for volleyball.
"It's volleyball, isn't it?" You asked, ignoring the pain that came along with the thought of no Oikawa Tooru by your side in the future.
Instantly, Oikawa shot his head up, placing a grip on your shoulder. As he nodded, you didn't fail to see how heartbroken he was— tears welling up in his eyes as his lips quivered, struggling to speak his mind, "Y-You... You're leaving— me...?" Hurt was clear in his glassy eyes, anyone could see it. He could feel his own legs tremble at the thought but...
It was bound to happen at some point in his life— it was always how his past relationships ended, whether or not they were serious.
But the love of his life— someone who he wanted a future with; someone whom he wanted to take his name and show it off with pride— he couldn't— not now.
He didn't want to.
"Fuck— I'm sorry, please— I-I'll try to make it work—" Oikawa panicked, clutching his chest as confusion overtook you, "J-Just don't leave me— I only got you back and I can't afford to lose you again!"
"Tooru," You called out, trying to snap him out his daze. His breathing became shallow as the tears slid down his face. He was completely stuck with the fact that you were leaving him. That you wouldn't support his goal. But in reality, it was nothing like that, "Please, listen to me."
To see him ignore your words, you weren't surprised. It was obvious that he was hurting— for a long time and that he'd only been letting it out now. Oikawa sniffled, gripping his hair tightly as he gritted his teeth, "Please..." He begged, shaking his head as he trembled, "Don't—"
"I still want to be with you."
'What?'
"Honestly, I'm glad you're pursuing your dream with volleyball. It makes me happy, so even if we end up in a long distance relationship, I don't mind. I'll miss you dearly, but that doesn't mean I'll stop loving you." You confessed, leaning your head against his chest, Oikawa sniffling as he kept himself silent. He rested his chin on your head, feeling your smaller arms around his torso, one of your hands rubbing his back for comfort. Standing in silence, he moved his arms to snake around your smaller frame, pulling you even closer to him if that possible.
"Please marry me when I see you again." He muttered to himself in such a quiet tone— that no one else would be able to hear.
Or so he thought.
"Okay." You hummed, not fighting off the humble smile making its way onto your lips.
"-What? You heard that?" He gasped, slightly moving you away to look at your face. Seeing you nod your head, he couldn't help but feel grateful, "Y-You do realise I mean it... Right?"
"I know," You quickly went on your tippy toes to peck his cheek, feeling his hand creep it's way up to cup your face— which had you leaning into his touch. Closing your eyes gently, you placed a hand on top of his, "I don't need to promise you that."
Gasping slightly, Oikawa stumbled back from the shock.
You were sure— no, certain that you would be changing from 'Ushijima' to 'Oikawa' in the future.
It was too much for him to take in; and yet, he was unable to fight off the big smile that suddenly made its way onto his face. He knew you didn't need to say anymore words to reassure him— even your presence alone was his greatest comfort. But your answer to his indirect proposal had him spinning— internally.
"Where will you be going?" You raised a brow, creating a small gap between your frames.
"Overseas— I'm planning on joining San Juan."
"Argentinian League?"
"Yeah."
"Awe," You gushed, earning his attention. It was surreal. The emotionless Y/N who barely shows how she feels (except when she is with him) was uncharacteristically gushing over him, "Ruru, I'm so proud of you."
'Ruru? Is that her new nickname for me?'
"I'm proud to have you as my girlfriend!" He shot back with an upbeat smile, causing small giggles to escape your lips at his change of moods. Biting his bottom lip, Oikawa quietly watched you chortle, trying his best not to squish you with another hug.
But he failed.
"—Ru!" You laughed, feeling him bury his face into your neck, his arms around you securely as you rested your hands on his biceps.
"Stop being cute, Y/N-chan!" The setter whined, giving off a playful pout but did nothing to stop his actions.

"Spying on your sister from the dorms isn't really a good idea," Tendou sighed, rubbing Ushijima's back, "But I guess it can't be helped, huh?"
"Hm."
Feeling backstabbed, Tendou plopped himself onto their shared dorm room's floor, taking a piece of chip into his mouth. He travelled his gaze from the bag of junk food and to Ushijima— who's eyes were strongly fixated towards his baby sister and Oikawa, watching from their window.
"She's happy with him."
Wakatoshi smiled.
