Prompt: You are on Spring Break in the Bahamas with your family. One day, as you walk along the beach, you find something curious. What is it? What does it mean? What happens?

The air is a salty mist while waves lap at the sand then slowly receding. The first beams of sun hit my face with a refreshing glow as the sun just barely peeks over the edge of the horizon. My bare feet sink slightly in the soft beads of sand as I walk beside the shore. As seagulls start to awaken, they start calling to each other, flying about, and getting ready for the day. I continue walking, picking up unique shells and storing them in a bag at my side when something unfamiliar pokes up from among the sand. I pull at it and a piece of a tide-worn leather cover comes out of the sand. With the cover comes pages of an untold story covered with gritty sand. Gently, I set my bag down and grasp the book with two hands. Sand falls away at my touch and I sit in the comforting sand. With that, I'm whisked away to a new, untraveled land full of adventures waiting to be told. I don't come back from that world for anything. Not food, not water, not even to familiar voices calling my name. I only comeback when the last word is read, not until the last page is turned, not until the back cover is closed and their stories are told. Then, and only then, do I come out of this now familiar world to an unfamiliar reality. People talked, children ran and played. Sand castles were made and destroyed while children laughed and cried. People ran past me and to me. Finally my family and friends find me staring out at the blue sea thinking about my new found world.
