Prompt: Write about a memory that takes place in a location other than your hometown. What are the interesting features about this place? Does it have any natural, historical, or personal significance, etc.?
Guatemala: We were visiting a city off the capital, helping our partner church there. We went there and the people were incredibly friendly and thankful for any little thing you do for them. The place was a little run down, but it felt very homey. We stayed in a hotel and swam every day. From our dinning table, you could see a volcanic mountain that continuously spouted smoke. Trees and nature was all around. On the last day of our visit with the church, some of the friends I made, even through the language barrier, presented me with a gift, a homemade flower. It may not have been the fanciest in the eyes of anyone else, but to me it is invaluable. It is more precious than any gem and worth more than all the money in the world. I still have it and every time I look at it, it reminds me of the precious friendships I made in one week.
